non paying buyers

How is it that buyers can bid and win an item and never pay??? Even if I block certain buyers it still happens.  Ive had 4 in 2 weeks that just dont respond to my messages and therefore never pay.  The penalty for not paying for an item is obviously not harsh enough! Getting pretty sick and tired of chasing unreliable buyers and waiting the 4 extra days to relist the items again.  So, the buyers account may get a strike or will eventually be closed and????.....they just create a new account!  The seller cannot leave negative feedback!!! Very unfair considering we sellers are paying the fees!

Re: non paying buyers

well juju, its actually the buyers paying the fees. them buying from you, gives you the money to pay the fees. if no,t then you need factor that into your selling price. and don't forget, there are just as many bad sellers out there.

I have just had the same issue and agree that it is unreasonable that feedback is not able to be left when the buyer bid without any intention of ever purchasing.  We use feedback ratings as a tool yet it is not accurate if feedback is prevented for non-paying buyers.  This buyer had 4 feedback ratings and we are the second sellers he has done this to but no-one will know because we're not able to leave feedback.

Re: non paying buyers

junkyard.relics, honestly, sellers don't check a buyers feedback anyway.

What if a buyer bids at the last minute? What would a seller do then if that buyer had 100 red dots?

Giving buyers negative or neutral feedback doesn't work.

Re: non paying buyers

Its just a part of ebay. Just as sellers pull out of sales where they are not happy with the price the item has been won at, there are buyers who don't pay.

Re: non paying buyers

You can put blocks in place to stop non bidders with strikes from being able to bid on your items.

To put these blocks in place hover your mouse over account in your my ebay page and from the drop down click on Site Preferences then go down the list till you see Buyer requirements and to the right of that click on show then click on edit. From there you can put in place the blocks you want, to stop those you want to block from purchasing from you.

It is the sellers that do not open and close non payer disputes that allow the serial non payers to continue buying

Re: non paying buyers

I agree with you OP IMO there needs to significant improvement in the current system in relation to non-payers, not going back to "how it used to work" but development of new ways to manage this issue to make it a safer trading environment for all.

What if the errant NPB did not bid at the last minute, but bid at the 1st minute of the auction, or the second, or the third OR THE FIFTH LAST MINUTE OR THE FOURTH LAST MINUTE OR THE THIRD LAST MINUTE OR THE SECOND LAST MINUTE?????

so many minutes in a auction but you chose the last minute for your argument

ARNL.... why was that???

possibly because it is the only minute where your argument may stand up to scrutiny???

Heaven forbid

What could the seller do then????

The comment that "sellers don't check feedback" is superflous and  without substantiation

IMO it would be classified as a guess:|

If  ebay left generic non payer feedback when a  NPB dispute was processed by a seller and a strike issued

ie.

NON PAYING BIDDER with a   $  sign (AKA the mark) instead of a positve or a negative

then the feedback lookers could look and the blockers could block

......... wait for it............

the blockers could check their blocked bidders list and if they found a blocked bidder id in their activity log and noticed a bid from another ID just after the time that the activity log blocked an id then they could surmise that it was the same buyer who used another id to get around the block

negative feedback for buyer may not stop them bidding

On top of that the myriad of threads that exist and will continue to be started by disgruntled sellers until the cows come home with the title

Why can't I leave appropriate feedback for a non paying buyer

would not exist

because the looker  sellers would be able to see     $   the "mark" when they "looked" and would learn how to issue same.

Re: non paying buyers

negative feedback for buyer may not stop them bidding but it highlights those buyers who do not meet their responsibilities.

(and I quote ebays exact terminology from the link below)

Why leave Feedback?

Leaving honest comments gives members a good idea of what to expect when dealing with other members.

What could be more honest than ebay leaving NPB generic feedback after a buyer does not pay ????

Honesty???? pfft
