in the performance requirements defect rate if you have a count of 1 , 25% (but its not showing in the table as in not showing as a defect) - is there a way to see which item that was for please? tried downloading the report which doesn't work but that may not be related. thanks

Under the new defect(ive) system, low detailed seller ratings for Postage & Handling Charges do not cause a defect -- only low ratings for Item As Describe and Postage Time cause a defect.
In other words, there's no way of knowing who leaves you a LDS rating for Communication or Postage & Handling.

The best way I've found to deal with the issue is to get the item in the post asap and then let the buyer know about it.
Some reference to the issue in your listing doesn't go astray either.

Dpending on where my buyers live, I'll send them a message stating it could take X days/weeks, going on past delivery times. I also stress that it will probably arrive much sooner, but letting them know it could take longer than what eBay tells them. I've not had anyone complain directly to me that it's taken too long, so I think it helps giving them the heads up.

yep i do the same chooks.
Im in sydney so for NSW i tell buyers they should have it within a couple of business days, eastern states i say usually within 3-5 business days and for WA and NT it could be upto a week, hopefully sooner.
I also add the tracking number to the message.
I think most appreciate clear and consice communication.

I actually tell them 2 weeks for WA, SA, NT, FNQ, remote Qld and Tassie because it has taken that long! Vic and .S.Qld I say a week and NSW a few days (depending on location). I'm in the Central West. Everyone seems appreciative of the message. I think it also covers me if someone from Nth WA complains that their item isn't there the next day!

eBay committed that sellers would be able to view the item numbers for defects a couple of months ago, however it appears that currently some sellers can see this information, some sellers can not see the complete information on the reports, and other sellers are unable to even view or download a report.
eBay have acknowledged (including to sellers making enquiries and on the US discussion boards) that there are several defects in the defect system in relation to the recording and reporting functions.

I see that you mention there is / will be no way of accessing info re who leaves low ratings for Communication.
When I first looked at the snap-shot / sample of defect catagories for the new Seller Perf. Standards to come into effect in August, I noticed there was no category for Communication.
I contacted Ebay about this and was told that they have now decided that 'Communication' is too subjective to rate sellers on.
What??
I think that its really quite an important aspect of the transactional process and the responsiveness of the seller to buyer questions and issues should be seen as pretty central in online dealing.
What do others think?
