Re: problem with my ad

If you are not going to accept whatever price it sells for, then that is a very good idea

Don’t start an auction at a price you won’t sell for if it only gets one bid, because that IS the sale price

Also make sure you are seen as a new seller and any money will be on hold for 30 days…….assuming you have fully completed sign up for Managed Payments and been given the go ahead by eBay you can sell. Or you will never get the money at all

Re: problem with my ad

You have definitely not cancelled anything. The buyer is currently expecting you to send it.

However, you can properly cancel/refund the transaction if you do not want to sell at that price. Highly suggest you read the sellers guide, or simply go to the transaction and cancel.

Not sure why you added information that you're expecting $1200 for the item whilst it is in auction. That sentence is meaningless to bidders and has no bearing on the outcome of the auction.

As mentioned, it is one or the other. If you wanted $1200, you should have set your item as a BIN listing only at $1200, OR started the auction around $1150+.

Please understand that a BIN is not a reserve. RESERVES ARE ONLY VALID FOR CARS, MOTORBIKES, AND BOATS. Read the sellers guide on how BINS actually work when combined with an auction.

It is totally your fault for having zero understanding of the selling process.

Re: problem with my ad

The buy it now price is not an auction reserve price, and it is removed when the first bid is made.

Re: problem with my ad

You've been on this platform for a very long time - I'm surprised you don't know how BIN and auctions work when combined. BINS are not reserves.

Setting an item with a high BIN and a low auction start price will always guarantee that buyers would rather go for an auction where they can potentially get the item for a far lower price than whatever you set as your BIN. As soon as the first bid is made, your BIN becomes irrelevant/falls away. Your current item has already had bids so no more BIN.

A better way to do it would be to either have a pure BIN item at the price you want, or an auction that starts at a higher opening price.

Since you're an intermittent seller, I do hope you've signed up for managed payments and been ID verified.

Re: problem with my ad

On 16-Nov-22 at 23:47:14 AEDST, seller added the following information:

To all it has a buy it now price which is $1200 it just wont show up on listing shows up on my side sorry people not my fault.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adding the above to your listing, is not how you cancel an auction.  Your listing was not cancelled and sold to the highest bidder at the scheduled completion.

Re: problem with my ad

As said, you did not cancel

'not your fault'

how so? you set the action start price and you set the buy it now price

'Your loss'  , your choice not to start the auction and a price you would be happy with

And the above still stands re Managed Payments and holds on your funds

Please read the selling basics, as clearly you have no idea at all how selling works

Well, you did stuff it up, that's true. All along the way, from listing to 'cancellation'.

But others here have outlined what you should do in future with a listing. Buy it now is not a reserve, never has been.

The item you wanted $1200 for sold at $300. That's still a fair amount (not in the sense of enough money for the sale but in regard to the amount of ebay fees you'll be up for).

You will now need to cancel that sale. You might need to read up on the help pages about how to do it.

But cancel it and if the buyer has paid, refund them.

If you just let things slide and do nothing, you will be up for the ebay sales fees and the buyer might open an ebay claim for item not received.

You do not have to honour the sale and sell for $300. No one can force that and as the listing type was a mistake on your part, you can simply cancel the sale. That would be the best thing. But make sure you read up about selling on the help pages before you relist anything.
