Hi all,
I have given a full refund to a customer via paypal, but now in my seller dashboard it shows that they haven't paid for their order. I don't want ebay to send an automatic request for payment email to the customer. How do I clear the item from my "sold" list? Do I archive it?

Ignore it and it will go away after 60 days.
The defect you doubtless got will last a whole year, however.

Thank you for your reply, but I am a bit confused. The buyer sent me a message, not through Ebay, and because it was low cost, I decided to refund item so as not to receive negative feedback. So I refunded through Paypal. So there is not dispute opened at all.
But if ebay automatically send this buyer a request for payment, as the order is sitting in my Sold items saying Buyer has not completed checkout, (as refund has been applied to whole amount), then they may very well give negative feedback, which I was trying to avoid.

Yes, that is certainly a possibility. But you probably got a defect for refunding, which is far harder to get removed than a neg. And is more damaging in the long run.

Oh ok, I don't know anything about "defects" so I will have to do some research to find out what it entails. Thank you so much for replying. Much appreciated!

You shouldn't get a defect if you refunded without a dispute, I haven't when I have done a direct refund.
I am at a loss trying to work out why you would give an unjustified refund just to avoid a neg.
You can mark the item as paid if you want to avoid ebay sending any payment reminders but if it were me I would just archive and forget about it.

I decided to give the refund as it was a color issue, which is usually dependant on people's monitors most of the time, and even though I note that in my listing, I decided for good customer service that I would refund as was only a very small $$, as would not have been worth my while to get them to send it back.
Thanks for your information and yes I did end up just archiving it so that they would not receive a payment reminder.
Cheers
