i have a previous buyer selling one of my reborns that was purchased from me back in march this year. she has listed it as a NEW item and date of birth as december 2012 and though she has not claimed to have made it she has presented it in such a way on a template so that it appears she is the artist. i have sent her an email telling her that her listing is fraudulent and that i would report her if she did not remove it or adjust her listing. i intend to do this tomorrow if i do not see any changes or response from her but wanted to know ...does ebay block them if they see that they have posted a dishonest listing. am thinking of naming and shaming her by posting her item number and ebay id here as well as a warning to others?? she paid $350 for her, has had her for 9 months. listed her as new and is asking for $525 on buy it now +$35 postage for a used item. maybe i should be flattered??? lol anyone else had this happen?

Absolutely, they can be reborn every few weeks in that case. I wonder if there is a competition for the most rebornded doll ๐

hi there,
this message is for foxette-in-sox. i sell through a website as well and she purchased there. i also have her response as i have emailed her.
this is what she said.
In placing this item for auction I have not indicated that it is my work but have provided an accurate description of the custom order I received from you .....
I believe I have carefully worded the description in a manner that does not in any way state that the doll's craftmanship is my work...As I do not have your permission to cite you as the artist...I have ensured that no artist is mentioned.
my complaint here is not the price or her reselling it is it implication that the doll is her work and that it is new which it is not. it is the 'omission of info' that makes it dishonest and i was more concerned with buyers thinking they are getting a new item when they are not. it is very disheartening when you get something that is used that you thought was new. the only reason the price is mentioned was to put into perspective HOW disappointed the buyer would be if they were to purchase it.
i do not care what price she sells it for or that she resells it.
thanks for your interest and comments... ๐

hi there,
it is used.....anyone who collects them will recognize it. it is just the 'new buyers' that will be duped because they do not really know what they are looking for. like some one looking for another collectible without any knowledge rally about what to look for. that is where my problem is...some one getting a used item thinking it is new and finding when they get it, it is not. like if you bought a designer outfit for $300 that said it was new and found when you got it it had been worn and had sweat stains in the armpits that were not really visible unless you knew to look for them....
thanks for your comments.

Exactly how is she implying it is her work?
I believe I have carefully worded the description in a manner that does not in any way state that the doll's craftmanship is my work..
In her opinion, she is not taking credit for your work.
In the future, sign your work. Then re sellers can photograph your signature, put it in the listing, and acknowledgment will go to you as the artist.

ok...you are an interesting one...perhaps arrogant but most likely ignorant.
firstly i do not JUST paint dolls. i am a commercial artist, still life artist and previously owned my own interior design business. i have painted wall murals in restaurants and in private homes, etc. many of my dolls have been sold to a child clothing photographer and shop owners who use them to 'model' child wear to promote sales. (not that i need to qualify myself to you) i also have done a few for an organization that helps mothers who have lost children through the grieving process (they normally have had to use cabbage patch dolls in the past but i would not expect you to understand any of that) it is very heartless and cruel some of the ignorant comments you have made. it is apparent you either hate kids, have never lost a child, despise innocence or are very coldhearted. i fail to see the difference in collecting dolls to collecting fairies or horse statues or model cars, motorcycles etc etc...just because you do not understand something or do not share someone elses likes or dislikes does not mean that you have a monopoly on what is 'in' and what is 'not'. we may find that you have some interest that we find weird or disturbing...we may even find you ARE weird or disturbing but that does not necessarily make it so. .i am sure there is someone out there that likes you??? i did not post this question for your opinion about what you think of my work but to find out whether anything can be done when a con artist is trying to defraud other buyers. it is hard enough selling with pictures only without having dishonest people undermining our business...period..the end.... just a piece of advise though..if you want to make comments and look intelligent, you would be better off picking a subject you know something about as apparently 'art' is not one of them..
thanks

"a con artist is trying to defraud other buyers"
No she's not.
The exact month a doll was made is irrelevant to the majority of people.
It's really not any of your business if she's selling it any way. (Unless she has used your photos or listing description).
You've been paid for your work when you sold the doll.
It will probably be sold or given away many times over. You no longer have control. Let it go.

these dolls come with certificates that ARE signed by me as the artist. she is not offering that. she has changed the name and will have printed a new certificate. there are things that you do not know here so it is pretty useless me trying to explain. i will say that she is a beginning reborn artist. i have helped her with info in getting started. the template she uses is styled like that of what 'original artist' use to sell their items, she told me that she wanted to learn to reborn and sell on ebay. i have helped quite a few ladies get started including tutorials, where to buy at good prices, etc...i do it for free cause i think it is great having new artist and interest etc and i love seeing some of the ladies posting dolls they have made...even cheer on their auctions. this one...it is how she has presented it that is not honest and if you have been in to see the auction you will see that it was listed as new. she bought this doll 9 months ago and if you have experience you will see the 'used' aspects of the doll as she has apparently dress and redressed her quite frequently, etc...but an inexperienced eye will be defrauded until they get her. you can put yourself in a buyers place and think how you would feel if you open a box after paying a price for a new item and finding it is 'used'...that is my problem.
thank you for your comments and questions.
