Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

I've received it for all my accounts.

And to my knowledge as far as I know with MP there won't be any PayPal involved does anyone know if this is the case?

So if PayPal payments will still be available then what's the point of MPs?

On this thread and in other spots it has been mentioned other times, main reason is, eBay have more control & for Afterpay, Google Pay, Apple Pay.

Buyers can still use PayPal, but they pay eBay rather than the seller, so the seller doesn't receive any notifications from PayPal at all, just the notifications from eBay (I don't currently receive any from eBay, as I set the notifications to come through as a "daily digest" rather than in real time on a per-sale basis, but they don't actually work, lol, I get no sale notifications at all, but eBay's notifications are completely useless to me anyway because most buyers purchase multiple items from me and I'm not keeping 20 individual emails for one order).

The other issue with PayPal payments going to eBay is from the buyer's side, because they don't get a proper receipt for it. It just says "payment to eBay" (or similar), and shows the amount - no order  or seller details at all. Etsy has basically an identical managed payments system (even uses the same payment processor) and if you use PayPal to buy there, you get full seller and order details, so why eBay couldn't manage to do this is beyond me. If it was a deliberate choice, they still should have at least included order details so buyers can cross reference payments to items they purchased.

Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

I've registered for MPs but I keep getting messages telling me to register and so far I have received 3 since I registered so obviously ebay still hasn't processed mine but shouldn't my registration application be in the system so ebay shouldn't keep sending messages?

Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

My apologies as it seems in jumping in here, my store had been ‘ on holiday’ since covid really put a dent in the postal service , however I’m still bombarded with eBay requests to register for MP.
Having looked into it I guessed it would be no better than it was before, eBay are generally atrocious at anything but collecting their money the one thing that puts me off is that they want my ID.
My license or passport.
Is there a way around this?
If there’s one thing I know for sure, I don’t trust eBay. M

Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

There's no way around it if you don't do it then you don't get to sell on ebay.

The process is exactely the same as if you were applying for a loan so it's safe right?

I did it and still waiting for a reply to see if I'm in or not.

I'm in the same boat. Registered earlier this month, but have just read the full text of their response:

We have received your information. We'll send you a notification two weeks before your account is activated for managed payments, and again two business days before activation. We will also send a confirmation notice after activation is complete.

Doesn't explain why I am still receiveing emails form ebay requesting I register for MPs.I haven't received a confirmation notice either. And haven't had any communication about my other (non-store) account going over to MP.
