i'm sure a lot or most of you probably received the managed payments email this morning. in case you didn't, or missed here - ebay is rolling out managed payments later in the year with pre-registration opening shortly.
more info is located at https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/managed-payments

In SA they're issued by the same department that issues driver's licenses (or they were) so mine has the same number that my driver's license had, back when I actually had one, so I guess that means I can use it, still.
And yeah, if those are the only two options currently provided, it's either a severe oversight on eBay's behalf, or an intentional culling of people whose.... circumstances eBay doesn't approve of?? Might have to get back on the phone to them, I already complained about the lack of registration options but didn't realise there were more issues to complain about.

I have three selling accounts, two in the missus name, one in mine. ( income splitting for tax purposes and not required to register for GST if total turnover exceeds $75,000 ) I have been running the smallest account down over time and had considered closing it soon. So just as an experiment I signed it up to the managed payments scheme.
THE IMPORTANT BIT..... The missus does NOT have a visa, passport or drivers licence. Same as the question a few others have had. I entered her South Australian POA card number in the drivers licence section and it went through without question. The rest of the process was pretty straight forward and simpler than I was expecting. She is now successfully registered for managed payments.
edit - further info.....She first applied for the POA card around 12 months ago.

Perhaps a Keypass ID would be accepted?
From what they were saying, eBay aren't asking for a visual of the ID, but an ID reference number, which means it needs to comply with the format of the selected ID type in order to be accepted.
Edit: thanks chameleon - great to know as I was planning on registering before the end of the month

My WA POA card doesn't have a number on it to input. It's just my name, my signature and my photo. If I could just upload a scan of it that would work (that's what I did for Paypal) but there is no option to upload anything.

No, not many usually. My refund amount is usually less than 1% of sales. With the pandemic associated delays and post going missing I've had a surge in refunds to almost 3% but hopefully that will taper off again soon. It's my policy to refund any missing items without ebay intervention even if registered post wasn't purchased so I anticipated that cost would increase temporarily.

No, Not verified straight away. Still waiting for that, but it accepted the POA card number without issue. Its worth noting the section for this number states that it is not just limited to drivers licence number, but will accept other forms of Government sanctioned id. Your id would still need a number though. Not much help for POA cards without a number.
The missus has never held a drivers licence ( she's blind ) but her POA card number is the same format and number of digits as a drivers licence. This tallies with digi's post that S.A. cards are issued by and affiliated with the drivers licence section of Service S.A.

Just for some general info...
I signed up earlier this evening (went with sole trader, as despite the eBay rep I spoke to about my situation advising to register as a company, some of the info requested for that option just wasn't applicable to me).
Anyway, this is in relation to making your items available to international buyers, as the info about that was kinda confusing and a little contradictory for me (i.e. at first I thought you could still list on international sites directly, which you can't, then I thought you couldn't but could still be visible on other sites, now I'm not so sure).
After signing up, there was some info and FAQs that I've not seen anywhere else which somewhat clarified the situation for me - you can only list on eBay AU, and while international buyers can still purchase your items, they have to come to eBay AU to do so, so I suspect this also means items listed as available to other countries will only appear on the sites where they are listed, at least to begin with - not unless they'll be visible, but eBay will make buyers log into the seller's site to buy.
Thought it might be worthwhile info to have for sellers who have a lot of OS buyers, anyway. This could have an effect of how the MBG works for international transactions, since eBay follows the site policies where the buyer was logged in when they purchased, so currently a US buyer logged into eBay.com who makes a purchase from an Aussie seller, any request would follow US policies - if that stipulation remains in place, then they'd have to log in to eBay AU and requests would follow AU policies. (I suspect the handling of them wouldn't differ too much, but at least you will be able to access eBay AU, and appropriate CS if needed, rather than be redirected to a site in a foreign language and have no idea how to contact anyone who can assist).

This whole new process is starting to look more and more like a dog's breakfast Digi - for both buyers and sellers.
I can imagine a lot of members getting their backs up over it and possibly giving eBay the flick, unless eBay spends a lot of time ironing out the problems before they start to hurt it in the back pocket.
Ah well, eBay always was an expert at breaking things that didn't need fixing in the first place...................
