hi,
not sure if this is the right place to post, but anyway, here goes...
i had an item listed for auction that ended on the 18th. one person bid and won. i sent an invoice when the auction had finished to the buyer.
now the problem is they sent me a message last night saying that they had forgot they even bid on the item, and if its ok with me they will pass on completeing the purchase. if not i will have to wait til the 29th for payment.
what are my options? ebay has already charged final value fee to my account, and im a bit worried if i make the buyer proceed with payment this could lead to negative feedback. on the other hand, why bid if you dont intend to buy?
so what would you do?

Given that there was only one bid I would probably give them until the 29th to pay, I would open a dispute immediately if they did not pay on that date. OK so they shouldn't have bid if they couldn't pay but if you either cancel or open a dispute there is no guarantee it will sell on a relist given there was not much interest in it first time round.
If you word your agreement iproperly as if you are doing them the biggest favour ever you may get yourself a repeat customer.
I did that with one buyer a few years ago and she has bought a couple of hundred dollars worth of items from me since, always asks for a bit of time to pay but never misses a payment and uses bank deposit!

With all due respect of course.........you know nothing about how long I have sold on ebay for.
So are you going to tell me that back in 2005 a buyer could initiate cancellations on their own?
