Thanks to jlb225oz for sending me this link
http://auspost.com.au/about-us/price-changes.html
I have also seen a printout that announces new prepaid satchels as of Monday March 5th. These replace the current red/white prepaid bags and are dearer BUT they do include tracking AND there is a 3kg-5kg bag. I really would like a 500gm -1kg, but no one in Aust Post listens to me.

I have written to the ACCC re; the demise of 250g parcel. AP are forcing small light items into the 500g weight bracket and thereby increasing the price from $5 to $6.60.
See www.ACCC.gov.au and look for 'more contact details' on the top right. Then see 'complaints and inquiries'.
Sample wording for an inquiry/complaint : Sending a parcel that weighs less than 250g by Australia Post used to cost $5. Australia Post has abolished the 'under 250 g parcel' and now these items must go as an 'under 500g' parcel.@ $6.60.
This seems to be an underhand way to increase the postage cost by forcing small light items into a higher weight bracket. Can this be an abuse of their 'natural monopoly'? The effective increase ($5 to $6.60) for the under 250 g item exceeds AP's stated median increase of 3.8% and exceeds the inflation rate by a lot.

I guess it's because a huge chunk of ebay postage parcels are within the 250g range, most of our parcels are anyway. The combined postage thing does not work for us either, people will buy one Item they like, not buy to save on postage. There is SUCH A BIG NEED for SMALL parcels up to 250g.!!!!!!!!!

I've tried stuffing Items into envelopes, you can wrap some clothing items around cardboard to hold it straight + flat (not over 2cm) inside an envelope but it's just not the right solution for bulkier clothing that still under 250g? Why should we resort to these second rate methods anyway??????
I've tried looking at couriers but they just don't cater for small, irregular parcels. Aus Post has the market cornered here.
Our Aus Post Franchise around the corner is closing doors, don't know if it is related. Not to find a new product that's thin enough to stuff in envelopes.... Aus Post, must be the only post office in the world that discourages small parcels!!!!!!!!!!

I have signed with Couriers Please today. And will be ending my Aust Post account for all parcels by the end of April. Not only is AP too expensive their accounting system is so complicated with forms in triplicate and no transperency.
I wonder how many people will do the same.
I send around 130 parcels a month, probably not much in the scheme of things but if other small businesses do the same, surely AP will notice??

I've never used the under 250g rate. Large letter or 500g C&S satchel for me. This may actually bring the pack up to me. Though I'm not impressed with the new C&S rates.
Yes, I know they have never gone up before, but it's still a shock to the wallet.
Luckily I paid for the only C&S sale over the weekend last night, so I only had to pay $5.50.

Hello, Yes i woke up to the price increase today, never received any info on the 500 gram bag increase of .70 cents, or 3kg bag increase. I spoke to a nice guy at click n send he said to send an email, so i did, they may not listed but power is in the voice so speak up, we can all email them doubt they will listen, the increase is more than 10 % fees fees and price hikes.

Absolutely agree. Processed items to send this morning to find the increase in place. When were the C+S customers notified of price increases? We were told there would be changes to the system not significant price increases, more than the 10% they quote in the blurb.

There is absolutely zero to be gained by ringing, writing or otherwise expressing your disappointment directly too AP. If you wish to complain about price rises you need to do so via the ACCC complaints form or do as others are doing in droves... Take your custom elsewhere.

Have just done a new listing and the automatic thingy has put the cost of a 3kg ebay satchel as $10.30 - now I'm confused.

I had the Ebay response I expected but at least I did get a reply - yet to hear from Click & Send. I have just completed the online form on ACCC site...if enough people complain they may just do something about it.
