Hi Everyone ๐
My brother has 2 ebay accounts, 1 was created many years ago on the ebay.com (American site) and he has recently created a new account on ebay.com.au (Australian site).
For a couple of weeks he was able to Buy & Sell items but for the last 2 months he has had trouble buying items and can't Sell anything on the Australian Site; it comes up that they have blocked him from selling anything.
He is using a 2 seperate email addresses but the same Name, Address and PayPal Account on both accounts.
Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ๐

Thanks for replying to my post
I double checked with him this morning and he said that hadn't linked his 2 accounts together yet and that only the Australian Ebay Account has been restricted.

How much had he bought and sold on that account earlier on?
Has he linked that account to PayPal and verified it at any point?

I think he only brought 2 or 3 items and maybe sold 1 or 2 dvds before they restricted his Ebay Australia Account, he has the same PayPal Account linked to both Ebay accounts as for if he has verified his account I'am not a 100% sure, I will have to double check with him and let you know.
Thanks

If one account is restricted then all accounts of that member are restricted....and possibly any accounts of other members living at that address.
My recommendation would be to ring ebay and ask why his account is restricted. If he continues to try and use the second account it is a good chance that he will be completely banned from ebay. When that happens it is game over....there is no appeal.

They don't need to be linked to carry over restrictions.
If two or more accounts have the same name, address, or phone number they are assumed as being from the same person and eBay will restrict all accounts by that member. They don't need to be linked for that to happen.

I think everyone is missing the point. If the original US account had been restricted, then yes, when he created the Australian account, that would be restricted too. BUT, the original US account was not restricted. Therefore, there has to be another reason why the Australian account has been dealt this blow, then the original account is still OK.
In this instance, it's not a case of one account being restricted, so all are.
Were the sales he made successful, or did the buyers initiate returns for any reason? Can he go into his seller dashboard and see what his defect rate is? If he has defects, then that is probably the reason.

Thank you so much for replying to my post I really appreciate it ๐
All his sales were successful and no returns or refunds have been made and his Defect rate is 0.00% so no problems there, but the strange thing is he never got any message from Ebay AU that they were putting any restrictions on his account.
Do you think he should just close his account and start over or do you think that this will this happen again?
Thanks ๐

I think he needs to keep contacting eBay (using the call me back option), and asking to speak to a supervisor, until he can get a reason why he was suspended. The most common reason is defects, but if he doesn't have any, and no disgruntled buyers, it's a mystery and he need to politely demand the reason why.
Is he absolutely 100% certain that his US account didn't have any issues?
The big issue with a suspended account is, if he creates a new account, as soon as eBay matches the accounts up (by personal details and IP address), any new accounts would suffer the same fate. The accounts don't need to be linked. If anyone else in your house has their own account, they usually suspend them as well.
If he does have to start a new account, there are ways not to get caught. You have to be very diligent, and always on the ball, but it can be done. I know several people who have done just that and have had no further issues. I'm not prepared to tell you how on a public forum. If it comes to that, I will contact you another way with how to do it.
In the mean time, get him to keep hounding eBay (politely). Only use the call me back option, the other options aren't worth persuing. I can understand why some sellers get suspended, but it's like 1 in a million for a buyer to get suspended!
Please keep us updated. Including if eBay have decided after 20 attempts, to leave the account suspended. Once it looks like a lost cause, then we can hopefully offer different suggestions.
