Cannot pay for Item

When I click on Pay Now - I get this message....... Something went wrong. Please try to check out again.

Is this a fault with EBay or the sellers account?

Can anyone advise which way to go from here?

Have you tried using the cart and paying that way?

Are you using the app?   Try accessing the full site.

Cannot pay for Item

I am having same issues.  Tried updating Paypal.  It will not even accept my credit cards.

I am absolutely not happy.  Paypal works without issue everywhere else

It's Friday. eBay maintenance day.

Try again later, or tomorrow. Nothing is going to be posted today anyway.

Add another to the list of people unable to complete the payment part of the order process, and getting this message "Something went wrong. Please try to check out again."  This also occurs when not using a Pay Pal account.  I had hoped the recent outage was trying to fix this.

The seller ended up cancelling the order, as we could not pay. Never had this problem before with EBay or PayPal.

Having this same problem.  Unable to complete order, it tells me to try a different payment method.

Tried 2 different paypal accounts, 2 different cards, no luck.

People have been complaining about this since 2017 but no solutions.  Time to find a new auction site I guess.

So long eBay.

Same issue. Cannot pay with mastercard debit card. No paypal account and do not want to sign up to it.

Was able to join ebayplus with the debit card so I am a member of ebayplus but cannot buy anything with the same debit card. Have tried multiple sellers on ebay: same result, ebay telling me to use paypal or another credit/debit card.

Got in contact with customer service and they said that this is a problem with other users and they are currently addressing the issue through their technical department and will contact me as soon as it is resolved. Over a week has passed and nothing has changed (Not completey true: the item I wanted to buy no longer has the special discount that was the reason I joined ebay in the first place.)

Can pay with the debit card through other vendors outside of ebay. So this is definitely a problem on the ebay side. Have done some searching through their forums and other sites on the internet. Seems to be a constant problem.

Cannot understand ebay. I want to buy from them. But they do not seem to want my money.

Do they want people to sign up to paypal so they can make more money?

Are they lazy?

Are they incompetent?

I know administering a multi million dollar company must be difficult, but you would think fixing issues with people being able to pay for their items might be a priority? Sigh...

Ebay no longer own Paypal.

Just to buy ,only way I know is to open a Paypal account.

You don't have to have anything in it, just link your debit card to the account,

and any payments made will be taken from your debit card.

Refunds will also go back to that same card.

Ebay no longer allows sellers to use merchant facilities, I believe.

You pay the individual seller, not eBay.

If a seller is not set up to accept cards, which most aren't, you either need a Paypal account, direct bank deposit, or use Paypal as a guest. Which is limited to a few transactions. Paypal do not charge users to accept money, so it will cost you nothing to use it.

A merchant credit card facility is expensive to maintain, so most sellers won't use them, and requires you to give your card details over the phone, which is fraught.

The choice is yours, but if you can't buy anything, you've wasted your money paying for eBay Plus. Which is a transaction with eBay, not a seller.
