A bit more information is needed......can you give us an example of a listing showing what you mean?

It seems to be a transcription error when catalogue information is imported. Something to do with eBay's transcription algorithm probably.

It has been happening since eBay set up their catalogue and is unlikely to be fixed.

Not heard of that before

Is it possible the bots are picking up letters before or after and 'marking it' as a swear word?

That has happened before

The mind boggles. I am trying to work out what words those would be.

Every instance of 'no' in the catalogue is omitted. eg kw, where, body, one, sw, sop...

It is universal (with books at least) and does t discriminate. I don't kw if it is Nielsen or eBay, but I'm plumping for the latter.

There goes any ambition I ever had to list Japanese theatre masks on eBay.

Spoiler
Misquoting: They tried to make me list on eBay, and I said, Nล, Nล, Nล.
