My Listings are hidden unless buyer searches 150km within my postcode!

My listing in Australia is being hidden from people in Australia.

To see it they have to choose the search option "search within150km of 5606".

My eBay item number is 293425261027

People should be able to search "Minelab Equinox" and have it come up but it is not showing at all with these search words.

These words are crucial for people to find my item.

I have tried talking to eBay help via chat but they said they could see my listing and had no idea.

I assume they are overseas as when searching from non Australian eBay my listing shows using those search words.

I have even tried canceling my listings and then relisting but the same thing happens!

???

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

I'm in Melbourne and can see both your listings.

What do you want us, other eBay members to do?

You seem to be correct. An item no search shows your item, but a general search doesn't. Maybe increase your prices, you seem to be undervasluing your item.

Did you use the search words "minelab equinox"?

I guess I am trying to find out if anyone has experienced this and got any answers.

Why would the value of my item cause it to not be searchable with the most important search words?

Neither one if them show for me under any search.

I've had that happen a number of times and the listings did show eventually.

eBay have always been known to hide some listings for a period of time and then they suddenly appear.good.gif

Maybe contact them and left them know as some have had success that way.

This gives you their direct links without having to go through their rigmarole:

https://www.ebay.com.au/help/home

Just keep in mind that the Call option is only available during business hours,

(from 8am to 8pm AET Monday to Friday, and 9am to 7pm AET Saturday and Sunday).

Have us call you seems to be the best option.

Just scroll to the bottom of that page.

If you use the chat option and none of their "options" suit then select which may be closest to why you

want to contact as their "selections" are limited.

If you search for minelab equinox you get 45 results, not including yours.  If you search for equinox minelab you get 129 results - including yours.  It's a bit strange when you consider that so many of them have the words in the same order as you!

If you start typing minelab ebay will show you pre-filled suggestions, which are supposedly what others have searched for previously, and that's why I typed the words in the opposite order to see what happened.

I don't know if it'll make any difference but perhaps you could try swapping the order of the words in your title and see what happens.  IF most people search for equinox minelab then it won't do any harm to change the title, but as you're not showing at the moment you've really got nothing to lose by trying it.

I could not locate your listing by searching , minelab equinox,   however it was top result when I searched for,  metal detector quick release.  You may have to re-think your title.

Thanks for all the comments, I will try arranging the wording different and contact eBay again.

The frustrating thing is I am the original designer of this item and now others have copied my design and are selling them.

I have been selling them for 12 months and only had this issue over the last couple of months since others started selling them.

I feel like eBay is intentionally trying to direct people to the others persons listing.

Anyone that is looking for any accessory for this detector would search "minelab equinox".

I have gone from selling 1 or 2 a week to zero in Australia.

Thanks again everyone.

It's a shame what's happened to you but unfortunately that seems to be what happens.  Ebay's search system is pathetic at times and I doubt you'll get any joy from ringing them, though they may find something that they can do to get you seen more.

It's always worth playing around with the words.  If searching for equinox minelab brings up all the listings for minelab equinox, perhaps having the words in the opposite order will bring your listings up when they do a search for ME.  Their search engine is contrary enough that it's quite on the cards that'd work!  Have a look at item specifics as well because sometimes listings show better when there's more details included there.

If you use facebook, try and find groups that are involved in gold prospecting as you may be able to sell them there.
