Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

Paulsretroboy is it each individual listing capped at $49.95 (this is how I read it) or is it the total FVF for all of those 30 listings?

And Wilbur these changes mean you could list your stamp for $10.00 for free and only pay the 7.9% FVF if it sells.

Hi Cosmo

I read it as $49.95 per month for the 30 listings so I'd like someone to clearly articulate that - I figured they ran their numbers to work out how much they get out of the average seller and base their offer on that.

From Wilbur's example - the change may be negative for the cheaper items - as 30 of them don't total $1000 - and let's face it - you have to sell A LOT of $10 items to make a decent buck.

For me the Buy It Now numbers are so big that the "get a deal" auction format is all but dead. The site is quickly turning into it's competition which might be saying something

Hi paulsretrotoy,
as per this wording on rule no.2

"Final value fees will increase from 5.25% to 7.9%, capped at $49.95 for each of the first 30 listings per month"

The emphasis I placed, but the bold word gives it away, also consistant with ebay UK that caps at 40GBP per trans on EACH tran. Means if you sell something over say about 650aud your fee remains 49.99 for THAT one item.

Sad but greedily true. (By you know who.....)

Thanks missionsellit

If that is the case then they have lost me too.

I don't sell very much anymore and I guess I will now try Gumtree or Car Sales when I sell again.

Thanks for sorting that out

Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

Sorry my reply got totally wrapped into the original quote from paulsretrotoys, Also to note for non store sellers, the cap is only on the first 30 transactions, transaction number 31 or greater, has an infinite commission of 7.9% , so no cap, ie sell item no. 31 or greater for 2000 bucks and pay 158 Smackeroos, !!!

Tip Number one in the Brave new fee world

sell high priced items over $650 in the first 30 listings of the month......

I shall remain selling from Australia on the UK site, less fees and more visibility.....

Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

We have been progressively dissatisfied with eBay as fees increase and changes are made with Turbo Lister that make it difficult to list. We mainly sell collectable comic books and now they are lumped in with "books" having descriptions etc. that have nothing to do with comics only adding confusion to customers that will not read descriptions if they were on the end of their noses. Postal prices do not always reflect Australian Post and we are constantly being told while listing that there are postal errors when there clearly are not. eBay was built on selling collectibles and now seems to want nothing but people selling new product. Using a store in our game isn't good for customers who love auctions. Our sales would go down and we would lose customers. The new increase will certainly hurt our bottom line which, after buying product, is getting smaller and smaller. Maybe we need to look elsewhere to move our product. Not Happy!!

Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

Interesting double speak isn't it?

"Rewarding our valuable casual sellers"

before they "rewarded" us casual sellers, transaction listing number 31 and greater had a listing fee and scaled down FVF no higher than 5.25% upto $75, then down to 2.75% upto 1000 final sale,
so a $1000 sale FVF was .......around $30 in round figures (?)
Now listing 31 and greater, if it sells will cost you FVF $79, AND the old listing fee.

Now please tell me WHO is valued and rewarded in THAT equation?

Doesn't feel like this 'valued casual seller....'
