I wanna know which buyer it was that demanded higher fees....
Was it the one that wants to pay more.
It is already much much more expensive to shop on Ebay au as it is. More and more buyers are using US sites now than ever before. It is cheaper to have a small item posted from the US (or England come to that) than it is for the same package to go across Australia. Sellers in Australia will be forced into a position where they can not compete and the end result will mean that the Aussie buyer will be paying more.
So stick your hand up if you were the buyer that demanded that...

This really has to be some sort of a joke.
A 50% increase in Fee's.
Let's break this down shall we.
I sell something for $100.
Before FVF = $5.25 NOW $7.9
I sell something for $500.
Before FVF = $26.25 NOW $39.5
This has got to be some sort of joke, how the hell are any of us better off? really.
Fine if your selling crap under $50 or so you are better off. But how are we better off if we are selling things over $100. We are not.
This just seems like a big old push to get BOGANS on here so they dont have to pay for there stuff to list it.
MORE BOGANS = MORE JUNK = MORE PROBLEMS.
Thanks Ebay Management.
Nice work on the bottom line there....
Spot on

Hereby I would like to congratulate eBay Australia on the marvellous job they do in misrepresenting the facts in their own favour.
The final value fees are not increased from 5.25% to 7.9% as eBay explains.
No: the final value fees are increased from 2.75% to 7.9%
eBay will never ever be open and transparent about their "changes". You do the math! And eBay you will probably do it wrong because they only told you half of the story.
eBay wants you to make the calculation like auzcardtrader did above:
"I sell something for $500.
Before FVF = $26.25 NOW $39.5 "
Hmm, 50% more. Not nice.
But it is actually worse:
Before FVF = 5.25% x $75 = $3.94
+ 2.75% x $425 = $11.68
So 3.94 + 11.68 = $15.63
FVF before: $15.63
FVF after: $39.50
So eBay Australia almost triples the FVF when you sell a $500 item. That is something different than paying the 50% extra eBay wants you to believe!
But hey: what does it matter. Almost nobody will do the maths. So eBay gets away with it anyway.

I am a BUYER and I OPPOSE THESE CHANGES.
Stop misrepresenting that your CASH GRABS and INSTANCE ON TURNING INTO AMAZON is BUYERS faults. It's not. It's YOUR DOING.
eBay is an auction site. IF Australians want to buy stuff, there are millions of commerce sites out there.
I want multiple listings from the same seller regardless of their powerseller status.
I want more sellers and more choice and thus lower fees for sellers.
And I always fill in your surveys and tell you your hairbrained schemes are stupid ideas and to STOP SPAMMING ME pretending you are running "sales" and the like. JUST OPEN A PROPER STORE ALREADY.
I don't understand why you have to have different rules than your USA branch. As sellers point out, theirs are BETTER RULES. So why not adopt them, stop trying to second guess buyers, and sack all the idiots who keep making changes for the WORSE?!!

With the exemption of powersellers from the free listings, how can I drop out of being a powerseller, it appears there are no links to support that option ?......thanks....
It's easy you have to go to Live Help and request to drop out. Or opt out as they say.

Australian sellers pay higher fees, and legitimate businesses like mine pay GST.
The changes over the past couple of months put Australian sellers at a huge disadvantage compared to the US and UK sellers they are trying so hard to promote.
Is this another tactic to drive Australian businesses out of business by dropping the overall cost of items??
Why can't eBay just let natural growth account for increased revenues, instead of pushing fees higher and higher??
