Top-Rated Sellers....

Hello, is it just me or has anyone elses sales dropped since ebay has introduced Top-rated sellers? I understand that they have gained this status, but I'm still aiming to get there. I was just a normal household seller that has started selling kiddies clothing in the last couple of months, but found that since this has changed from Powerseller, my little old sales has dropped. Any comments appreciated.

:-( Yes I find it very offensive.Looks like we are here to compete with each other and not sell !!!! Gained this status? if you look and compare it doesnt make sense,people that should be top rated aren't and people that shouldn't be are. Good luck this is ebay for you!!!!

I just looked at an auction from a Top Rated Seller and it contains a clause that if buyer uses PayPal, extra fees are payable by buyer. The way I see it the TRS doesn't mean a thing. I am a reasonably active buyer and I judge by sellers postal charges and product quality. I dislike leaving negative feedback and will give seller every opportunity to correct a problem before I do. Don't worry about the TRS as I am sure there are a lot of other buyers with similar attitude. Happy trading!

I was shocked & since Top rated sellers has come in my sales have dropped 90%.

What is the criteria for getting this rating? does anyone know?
I have no neg fback & 1 neutral in 12 months.

Is there no end to the ebay madness that has been going on for over 4 years now.

Do not bother trying to be a top rated seller, they gave it to me then gave me powerseller status which means they then charged me for the listings that were supposed to be free, thats ebay for you, give with one hand & take away with the other.......

BTW, upon complaining, it appears you cannot get powerseller status removed anymore......

I like ebay, and love to sell bits and pieces here and there from home, i have tried other sites and dont seem to be ale to sell like i do here. so I'm still liking it! Although i did have a mishap and the guy on the phone was no help what so ever! that made me back up 2 steps. but its gotta get better right?

that would be because there is a lot of ''old'' feedback there.
to qualify for TRS your past 12 months only is taken into account.
i.e. you need $3,000 sales and 100 items in past 12 months, along with good feedback AND impecable Detail Seller Ratings, as well as only 1 or 2 eBay Policy Violations..
it's a lot more than just having a good f/back record.


if waterlilycat wants to know why she hasn't reached TRS, she needs to check her Seller Dashboard, the qualifying criteria is all there with notes about where you have not qualified yet.

dolly-43 -- it is not a matter of eBay''gave'' you Powerseller status, YOU reached that status by selling $3000 and 100 items in 12months.
the only way to ''opt out'' of being a powerseller is to sell less, which surely defeats the purpose of listing on eBay.

sure free listings are GREAT, if you dont want to sell anything at all, just list, for free, then you can do that for years..... however, if you want to SELL, then you have to acknowledge that at some stage you will reach a level no longer considered 'casual seller' and start paying for your listings, which is OK cause it means you are eBaying well, have good products and selling them !! yay!

I have found the same thing..
Top Rated Sellers do not get any free listings.. and now the Final Value Fee has gone up too. In effect I'm being penalised for being a good ebay seller.. 😞

I think its just a coincidence as TRS happened at the same time that the international sellers flooded AU eBay. This is what is killing sales.
