Does anyone know when Australia Post will begin sending items to Canada now that the Canada Post is back to work. Ebay is allowing Canadian buyers to purchase items from Australia but the postage function does not allow selection of postal service to Canda. Ebay help are just saying to tell the buyer to wait. No help at all really and am waiting for an ebay manager to contact me but hoping that someone might have an answer on when we can purchase labels on ebay again to Canada

As of December 18th (the day after the strike ended), eBay allowed Canadian buyers to purchase again, despite Australia Post not resuming their service as yet. The only way for mail to get through at the moment is via courier.
For a DVD, it only costs around AUD$25 - $30 more to ship with DHL. Some buyers are ok with paying the extra, but others are happy to wait until Australia Post resumes services.
If I had a buyer who was not happy with one of those 2 options, I'd cancel the transaction using the reason "problem with buyer's address".

Can confirm this situation is a problem and suggest sellers restrict parcels to Canada from Austalia and prepare for current parcels to be returned with a postage refund.. I was unaware of the strike just prior to christmas on selling an item from Aust to Canada I messaged buyer if they like a refund or wait. they choose wait. I then sent an updated message to let them know had not forgotten but was currently still not able to send. I receive messages from buyer "the strike has been off for weeks now." and "i spoke to my friend at the capital. he said your lying and they have been able to ship to canada via canadapost the day after the strike ended. he said i should contact ebay.why are you doing this?" I refunded her money then and there as originally offered .
Unfortunately I found the whole thing really upsetting and doubt ill get an appologie from the buyer. I found it really disturbing how easily people can get things twisted up. and very insulting.

That sounds like the kind of buyer who was going to make trouble no matter what, one, who even without the strike would have been a problem buyer. I hope you put them on your blocked list

It's a shame, but not surprising, that Ebay AU are not informing local sellers of the situation with a simple announcement update, compared to Ebay in the US, who are also guarenteeing seller performance standards are kept.
As of this morning, there's still no change, yet Ebay continue to send out the overdue postage reminders - frustrating.
