Aus Post parcel says "delivered" but I received nothing, not even a note

I'm sure you've heard this issue before, but it's the first time I've encountered it.

Going to use XXX to keep specific places hidden.

Using the Aus Post tracking number, standard delivery:

- 1/8: Received By Australia Post - XXX VIC

- 2/8: With Australia Post for delivery today - MITCHELL ACT, 7:25am

- 2/8:  Delivered - MITCHELL ACT, 2:16pm

I am from ACT but not MITCHELL, I'm from another suburb. No where on here is my suburb shown. It just has MITCHELL ACT twice. It says that it is complete/delivered, but I didn't receive anything at home, not even the note to collect it from the post office. 

I called Australia Post and gave them all the details and lodged a "dispute case" or "missing case" or whatever it is.

What happens from here? What could've possibly happened?

If things go extra sour and it is not located, what do I do about getting my money back? I bought it using PayPal. But if the seller did send it to the correct address then this is on Australia Post. 

The thing that I bought is worth ~ $750. Will Aus Post cover? eBay seller? I'm so lost. Help.

This is a confirmed scam because a personal message sent to me was literally copy pasted to the OzBargains guy too.

If it was a mobile phone they at the very least have broken Aus Post's policy which is that any item with a lithium battery should only be sent by regular mail with a road only sticker on it. One would asume a reputable, honest seller would know express post was a no no and would not have signed the dangrous goods declaration.

As a warning to any other potential buyers, you should immediately leave negative feedback for the seller informing of the non-delivery.

Make sure it complies with eBay's feedback policies however.

All items have being removed as well as their feedback to you,(so they would now be NARU's,Not A Registered

User).

Your funds should be returned,(if not contact eBay and let them know it was a scam),

They've held of on the NARU'd bit,(they have to notify all the buyers that it was a scammer so maybe why they

held off or it was a hijacked account that's been returned to the account holder),

Most of the time the sold items will stay on the site as a sold items but at other times they will/may disappear if the

seller is NARU'd).

Called eBay, they said that they will investigate it, and if the seller doesn't give a proof of postage sent to my name and address, then I'll get a refund. But if this clearly scam seller does give some fake proof of postage to me, then I have to get a "documentation from AP to prove that I received nothing".

God, this is getting so annoying. Especially when this is clearly a scammer.

Remind them that the value was over $750 and that the seller must also provide proof of SOD, not just proof of postage to your address - we know that the seller doesn't have that.

Yep, told them both of those things. They seem to agree with me but still have a "process" to follow.

Perhaps they're just trying to be cautious with what they say or promise, I guess from their perspective they can't promise anything outright before the seller has had an opportunity to provide any evidence. Here's hoping for a fast resolution and refund, though.

You could contact Postal Ombudsman about it, its worth a go.
