Just a bit confused here so please help me to understand this.
Purchased 2 items and asked seller for combined postage which was agreed to. Both items were Buy it now and no matter how I tried to purchase the items on Ebay, the items only came up individually with the original postage costs. Contacted seller who asked me for my PPal email address which I sent him. He then told me to go into my PP account where I would find an invoice from them with all the correct info. This I did and paid the money requested and received the items. Seller has a 100% feedback but thinking about this whole transaction it seems I could have been scammed perhaps.
There is no record of my purchases through Ebay. So I cannot receive or leave feedback. Was I doing the right thing by just paying for the goods through PP or was I breaking the rules? What could I have done if the seller did not send me the items - could I have gone directly to Paypal with a claim?
Just want to know where I stand in case this happens again. Not comfortable not having to actually go through Ebay.

I buy most of my goods away from Ebay using Paypal and am fully protected as a buyer by Paypal as long as I stay under Aus$2,000 in any one transaction.
I only know this info because I asked Paypal themselves before I ever started buying with my Paypal account because I buy in wholesale lots most of the time and Ebay sellers only offer playtime lots at inflated wholesale prices.
Whenever I buy more than a value of Aus$2,000 in one hit I use a Bonded Letter of Credit issued by an International bank which ensures my money isn't handed over to the seller until after I give the okay after checking the delivery.
I have been asked to work outside of Ebay when buying many times but I'm not going to repeat my replies to the sellers here lol. (Take that comment whichever way you choose lol)
The paypal claim limit is 20k inc freight not 2k

PayPal Buyer Protection
PayPal Buyer Protection helps you if you don't receive your item or the item is significantly different from its description in the seller's listing.
Eligible transactions may be protected up to the full purchase price and original postage charges to a maximum of AU$20,000.
Certain categories are excluded, including vehicles in the Motors category, capital equipment in the Business & Industrial category, items in the Adult Only category, Real Estate, and Live Auctions.

Thanks for that info Viewmont.
I most probably read it myself already but missed the extra 0 in the figure.
However, I still think I'd rather go with my bonded letter of credit with the bank than deal with Paypal for that amount of cash.
I'm not that trusting of Paypal and the BLoC is a cheap alternative to use for both parties.

Some Ebay Seller's charge to much for Postage, like for instance you buy a product for 99 cents and they want $7.00 for postage for a Football Card, not happy

Buy at a reasonable price then.
If the seller doesn't get free listings it costs them 50c for the listing, 8c in FVF, then Paypal fees of 30c + 2.4%. Even without the postage PP fees, they are making 9c on a 99c listing. More fool them, but if the postage is stated up front there is no onus on you to buy from them. You know what you are up for and have no legitimate complaint.
