Ebay expensive and delivery very slow, if at all.

Community Ebay Jun 01 2022.

No one was forced to by IBM laptops and guess what? Now no one can!

Ebay IT'S YOUR REPUTATION THAT'S GOING DOWN THE PAN

A long, long time ago I bought a Nespresso Coffee maker. It was significantly cheaper than in the shops and it arrived so fast that I don't even remember how long it took.

Fast forward 20 years...

I bought an ID badge printer. With postage it was slightly more expensive than Office works by about 80 cents... still they had it in stock and Officeworks didn't.

Still hasn't been delivered.

They had listed a nearby Newsagency as the delivery address.

When I checked 2 days after they final, final delivery date, the Newsagency stated "oh we always refuse to accept parcels from anybody but TOLL. No one else pays us to handle them".

It was only when I contacted the sender that anybody bothered to update the tracking. We are now 17 days past the original estimated delivery date and I don't know whether just go down to Officeworks as they now have it in stock or hang on until it inevitably get returned to sender and then go to Officeworks.

At the rate Le Send are updating their tracking system it's probably already with the vendor.... Ahhh.

And this isn't the first time Le Send have lost a package... this time I know what the issue is at least.

But if this is happening over and over again, surely they must know what the issue is.

Don't the drivers say "That blood newsagent in Ship Creek still ain't taking our packages" when they return to the Depot?

Ebay - openess and transparency. I want to know how long I have to wait for my goods.

Ebay - compensation for having to wait more than a reasonable time after the delivery date. That way Sellers will avoid half-a*sed delivery companies who just want to undercut AusPost, until Auspost dissapears and don't give a damn about the customers.

Ebay - price promise - if you find the same item in a local shop for less within the week, the difference back from vendor.

Please Ebay there are many other websites, but I've been using eBay for so long I want it to survive and flourish.

Alas Gutterpunk, I am familiar with Le Send not delivering packages and also using the refund option.

Technically I've never been to a rodeo so you might be right in that aspect.

I suspect "direct bank transfers" you must be one of the earliest users, I've always had the PayPal option. I've only ever used direct transfers when the vendor is a power sellers, been around a little while and had a 98%+ rating, otherwise alarm bells.

I do note that you've been a little more active on eBay than me though.

I am also regularly disapointed by the time it takes Chinese eBay'rs to deliver though credit where credits due they do usually arrive. It's almost like Christmas because you've forgotten that you've ordered it by the time it arrives.

So gutterpunkz05 you're basically telling me your happy with paying shop prices and waiting ages for packages to arrive, that's if they do. Interesting.

Couldn't we just have the old eBay (Bargains and speedy delivery) and the new Money back guarantee?

I would hesitate to buy from sellers with a 98% feedback rating let alone pay by direct bank transfer.

Most board members regard 99.5% as being the cutoff point for high-volume sellers, even then I would never pay by DD unless I knew that seller personally.

No, I actually bother to check  out sellers before buying.  I have never had an item not received. have only ever had to raise 1 dispute for INAD (resolved in my favor)   And  since the start of covid, I can only recall 1 item  being overdue  (as a buyer).  Have actually had more delays with B&M stores.

Hi Jellybirddesigns,

Oh yes, vendors responded, so I've opted for my money back.

It's all good.

Just the time wasted when all I wanted to do was print out some ID cards for my team.

It was a bit of boys and their toys scenario, but just lamenting that recently all my experiences with eBay have left me wondering why I'm still using it when it used to be so bloody fanatastic 😉

I was hoping to ignites a call for things to improve... I live in hope 😄

Not going to happen, no matter how much you hope.  Ebay do not read here, and in any event

they do not accept any unsolicited members ideas.

The only time you get any input, is to complete surveys on request.  If you have ever completed one, they usually ask you ten different versions of the same question, just to see if your responses are genuine.

Bargains and speedy delivery

IE: Cheap for me, using premium postage, because sellers don't deserve to get a reasonable return for their effort.

Re: Ebay expensive and delivery very slow, if at all.

It sounds as if you weren't really around in the old days of ebay.😁

I was.

So I feel I am more qualified to say things are much better now..

It was nothing in the old days for most sellers to take 2 weeks before they even got around to posting.

Some never did and just kept your money and guess what, there was nothing you could do about it.

Ebay was known as a place for good buys but that was mainly because most of the items were second hand.

So fast forward to your case.

Different sellers use dfferent postage methods so that is nothing to do with ebay.

Ebay these days sells mainly new stuff.

Ebay may or may not be the cheapest price around for new items, you'd need to google to check it out.

It never has been the best place, necessarily, for the cheapest new item.

You say you want to know how long you have to wait for your goods-

What do you think the estimated arrival dates are for?

If your item doesn't arrive by then or soon after, open an ebay claim and get your money back.

I don't know much about ebay compensation for waiting  over long for a delivery-I would have thought that was ebay money back for non delivery?

Nor do I know much about the ebay price promise you mention. I haven't seen that in any ads but as ebay is made up of thousands of individual sellers, I don't know how ebay could promise buyers that the vendor would pay the difference back if a buyer found it at a local shop.

My take as a buyer is just try to avoid all the trouble in the first place and shop around or look at google first before buying.

But  Dave,

that's what shops are for, to charge premium prices.... So really what is the point of eBay?

In the end I ordered the ID printer from Officerworks, which included delivery and, its 80 cents cheaper (I didn't order it from Officeworks first because they didn't have it in stock, but they do now).

Re: Ebay expensive and delivery very slow, if at all.

I don't think that 98%+ rating is good in most cases. Maybe if a small seller gets a negative from a difficult buyer, but I would expect better feedback from a power seller...

Edit: already said by Padi!
