I know it's early days, but based on what I see, there is no way in hell I'll be paying for Ebay Plus. I buy a lot and have a large watch list and have noticed that the only sellers offering it.... are those that had free shipping already! lol and of course we know there is no such thing, it's factored in to the price.
So it's all a farce to get people to pay $29, $49 after the first year to get free shipping off sellers who offered it prior to Ebay PLus anyway. Not only single seller I use who charges postage now has the Plus. And here was the Ebay chief saying they were doing it to increase online shopping. Yeah whatever dude....

Well, I cancelled my eBay plus membership today.
eBay asked what the reason was in a small survey and I noticed the no.1 reason on the list was "Inventory is too small."
And that was the one I chose.
I noticed something else as well about this thread; it seems to have been removed from Google search.
Just a couple of days ago, it was one of the first pages to come up with a search of "eBay Plus"
I think this was because the thread was somehow automatically highlighted by eBay itself (big mistake.)
Now, this thread doesn't even appear on the first page, instead there is an article praising the idea titled;
"EBay has "all the pieces" to compete with Amazon thanks to new fulfilment services revealed this week"

Look im ready to change to EBAY Plus, ive noticed a substantial drop in mainstream game sales, because all the powersellers that used to offer free postage now charge for postage, and if your an ebay plus member, then ebay pays our standard postage, therefore i can start my guaranteed delivery system, drop my prices, charge postage costs and packing costs, pay ebay there 10% fee, and this ends up being better for sellers.
I can sell cheap items and send them by courier and ebay pays for everything except the item itself, before i implement this new system, im going to talk to ebay tomorrow and see if there are any hidden strings attached, look ill ditch my Ebay premium service logo if ebay pay my postage and packing costs. Its acutally much better than amazon prime because with amazon prime they only ship items in their fullfillment centers and not everyday , non-fullfillment sellers, plus there fullfillment fees are not bad, but the con to it is amazon ship out the way they do (cheap ass means) also they still have fullfillment fees for sellers using there service whereas EBAY i can send them out and EBAY pay for my shipping and handling costs.
I'll find out more tomorrow, and its going to be such a pain to change the system after i just finished the new GST on low value imports system , now ill have to do guaranteed delivery and EBAY plus changes.
cheers 🙂

For your sake I hope you are right but it is my understanding that ebay have to opt you into ebay plus.....it is not your decision.
I also understand that ebay only pays for standard postage....read the cheapest they can get away with. I doubt very much that they would pay for couriers etc.

I had an item on my watch list that had the eBay plus logo. It had $10 Express postage from Perth. I also had a $20 voucher from eBay on $30 minimum item spend. So I signed up for the one month trial and bought a $61 for $41 and eBay plus free postage.
I don’t buy so much on eBay nowadays, but I reckon I will get more than $29 worth of free shipping from eBay plus items in the next 12 months.

I thought ebay plus only covered standard postage.....you will probably get your item by Christmas.

well im 2 weeks into this new ebay plus scheme and my sales have risen, and yes ebay pay all my standard shipping and handling expenses, so the customer benefits from like at approx $8 reduction in costs & fast courier shipping for only 9.99 which covers almost all my shipping expenses even import costs, like only paying now about $2 to ship to my customers and my customers are getting approx $8 further discount. I am a top rated seller and qualify for ebay plus. But unfortunately there are sellers that are starting to abuse the system, it does NOT cost 19.50 to send Octopath Traveler Switch Version standard postage to Australian Addresses and charge 68.00 to the customer, some say its clever strategy, but for the record its impossible to sell that item at 68.00, it costs 64.89 ex GST for 100 units from Nintendo i pay 66.09ex GST because i cant afford that many units, UK prices wholesale go for 34.50 pounds before GST.
Clearly thats abusing the ebay plus system and its going to hurt other sellers, but selling items under cost and ebay paying them 87.50 for an item they are selling at $68 (even taking out the fees approx 12% paypal/ebay) they are still getting ~$77 back and they make ~$4.30 profit after GST lol
And with Amazon Prime they give no reimbursement to the seller that has items at their fullfillment center, still the same fees, shipping is only slightly cheaper than sending it yourself.
