Fake Tripp pants

I purchased a pair of Tripps for my daughter for her birthday but when they arrived they were cheap fake copies. Not genuine Tripps. I'm still in the middle of a Paypal dispute to try to get a full refund of purchase price and shipping. In the meantime I reported the item to Ebay as being a knockoff but they haven't removed it from the site. The seller also has a few other Tripp knockoffs in their shop. Does ebay not care any more if sellers make cheap copies of iconic brands to sell here?

Re: Fake Tripp pants

You are missing the point, and I just donโ€™t have enough wine in my house to care about this TRIPP rubbish anymore!

You made an error, didnโ€™t do your research or any due diligence, paid the priceโ€ฆ(wasnt cheap after all, was it? ๐Ÿ˜‰)โ€ฆโ€ฆ Come here, was shown the proof that this seller is NOT CLAIMING TO BE SELLING TRIPP NYC pants, and yet you just carry on!

So, I give up.

Re: Fake Tripp pants

Why didn't you buy from the "genuine Australian reseller" then?

I would have been suspect that the description in the ad was filled only with policies and procedures, and nothing at all to do with the item they were selling. There was zero in their blurbs about the pants. Nothing. Just their policies, feedback and returns. That would have been an immediate NO from me.

Re: Fake Tripp pants

Most brands are highly unlikely to give a distributors licence to random Ebay sellers. I also don't think that many brands even have Ebay stores as this platform is too much of minefield for most of them to venture into. Either they have a b&m shop, or they have their own website.

A quick look at AliExpress shows hundreds and hundreds of "Tripp" items. All of them are knockoffs and your seller probably just drop shipped directly from one of these Chinese sellers.

TRIPP PANTS

Not to be confused with   TRIPP NYC  (Brand Name)  Or any other brand for that matter.

Re: Fake Tripp pants

As soon as I get a refund from this a$$ I will order from the genuine seller. I've already spoken with them to confirm the authenticity of the pants. I realise now I should have checked the seller out more thoroughly but it's too late for that now. I just don't want others to end up with these cheap (expensive) rip offs. Seems from others' replies here though that it's perfectly OK to make exact copies of an iconic brand and list them with the brand name in your title as long as you put your own brand name somewhere in the fine print.

Re: Fake Tripp pants

Yep, I should have looked into it more. My bad. Too late for that now and I guess there's not much anyone can do to stop these a$$holes ripping people off. It's sad they can get away with it so easily.

Re: Fake Tripp pants

Yeah, so the word may be in wide use but when you capitalise it and use it to list an item that is an exact copy of an item that happens to have that same brand name then you're probably trying to rip people off.

Anyway it seems I have my answer. eBay doesn't give a **bleep** about sellers ripping people off. I'll keep this in mind and choose to buy brand name products elsewhere from now on.

Re: Fake Tripp pants

I've bought plenty of brand name items on eBay over the past 20 odd years that have been genuine. DC shoes, Doc Martens, Ray Bans, Billabong and more. I guess it's hit and miss and I've just been lucky until now. Probably should stick to buying from Australian sellers.

Nice of you to get all crusty on my thread just because you ran out of vino. Maybe just scroll on by when you haven't got any intelligent thoughts to share? Clown!
