Hello,
I am hoping that someone can please provide me with some advice. I purchased an item from eBay at the end of April from a seller located in the US with the intention of getting it posted to Australia. They promptly shipped it via GSP, it went to Glendale Heights IL, sat there for a bit and then got forwarded to DHL in Melrose Park IL where it was rejected due to an unknown recipient and returned to sender. Now, I have been in contact with the seller and they have not received the item back yet and it was last scanned on the 8th of May at DHL. I triple checked the address I provided at the time of purchase and everything is correct. I opened an item not received case with eBay and they immediately refunded me and closed the case but when I asked them to investigate where the item was they told me they didn't have any additional information because the item was lost and wouldn't ask DHL to investigate it.
My questions are,
1. Has anybody in a similar position had any luck retrieving their lost items? Do they eventually show up with the buyer or back with the seller?
2. Can anybody recommend a course of action I can take to try and find some more information about this lost item, where it might be and where GSP said it was going? For example, contacting DHL etc.
The item I purchased was quite large and heavy, so kind of difficult to misplace. The dimensions were approximately 35x35x75cm, 10kg. It's also a reasonably uncommon item, specifically a drum for an old riso printer so it's upsetting to think that it's just sitting on a shelf in a sorting facility with no one knowing what to do with it.
Here are the tracking details from eBay (newest to oldest):

GSP are notorious for not shipping a whole range of items and they frequently don't return them to seller. If it was a second hand drum they would have been concerned about possible solvents . They also repack( allegedly very poorly).
Best of luck finding a drum.
PS curious as to what you print, Riso is quite niche.

You have been refunded, not your problem anymore, move on and find another seller.

GSP is no longer used by sellers in the US.
It was replaced by eBay International Shipping quite some time ago.
1. No the item is not returned to the seller.
2. After being refunded there is nothing further you can do.
If the item has been found it is now the property of eBay.
If it has not been found then who knows where it is.
