If I have left positive feedback (5 star) why is it not accepted unless I make an inane comment?

The subject is my question. Why can't I just leave 5 stars without making a stupid embarrising comment?

I am sure that I am not alone in thinking this!

Spot on. It is for the benefit of other buyers.

I saw someone refer to a full stop as being the only comment some people make.

As a buyer, if I saw that, I would wonder if something had been not quite right with the transaction, if there had been some problem. In other words, to me it smacks more of a neutral than a positive.

Surely if a transaction has been good, you could just write-Good, or thanks.

But I do agree, I think people should be able to fill in star ratings alone if they wish, without having to write something in the comment section. I actually wouldn't be surprised if ebay is working towards that.

Comments are down to a max of 80 characters. In the good old days, the US ebay site didn't seem to have a maximum, or if it did, it was a lot more generous, and I saw some real ding dong battles going on in feedback/reply. Now those were the days when it was entertaining to read feedback.Smiley Happy

One that I use for ordinary transactions where things where neither especially good or bad is "5 star seller" . Its quick to type, says you where satisfied with everything without making a big fuss.

I didn't realise that only the seller could see the stars. That is silly in itself, so I suppoe that I will just have to leave some comment.

If I am eating at a restaurant and a waitress comes to clear some dishes, I say thankyou. Just because I am PAYING for the meal or the waitress might be getting PAID for working doesn't mean I can't show some kind of gratitude. Especially if it has been a smooth/pleasant experience.

Yeah I use the same comments for all the people I leave feedback for. The stars are important to sellers. Just type out one comment and next time you leave feedback type in the first letter and it will come up. If your struggling to come up with a comment at all to do this, visit someones feedback and use someone else's comment. Ha ha. At least then the seller knows you got the item and there is no problems.
