I have made two purchases with the new imposed GST on overseas purchases. The first was correct at 10% on purchase price and postage.
I have just gone to make payment on another purchase and the amount imposed on the invoice as import duites is 14.7% (NOT THE LEGISLATED 10%).
Have sent a message to eBay and await there response which could be like a circus when it appears no one in customer service seems to know about GST.
Be causious when making payment.

There is nothing on PayPal or EBay which itemised the GST portion of the import duties .
Or any additional work or fees
All my overseas purchases show the GST amount that was taken.
It’s not a proper invoice has not got there ABN
and all the relevant info.to make a legal invoice
An overseas seller will not have an Australian Business Number.
It is a total fraud and scam and needs to be investigated and a class action taken
Good luck with that.
And as certain opposing politicians advised the ATO can not police low value goods tax’s .
True, that is why selling platforms like eBay and Amazon are considered sellers by the ATO and remit GST fees to the ATO.
If companies collect these import duties and then fraudulently not pay ATO there is no body or office who investigates this .
This gst or duty should be removed as it is allowing international companies to rip us off .
As we will never know if this money ever gets back to ATO.
How could you possibly know whether the companies do or do not pay those fees to the ATO ?

many members would agree with you and have been waiting for a leader such as yourself to set up and lay the groundwork for a class action.
Please come back when the class action is underway so I too can join in. I'll need an estimate of what the action will cost me should it fail as I am on a limited income and would not be able to contribute to eBay's or the ATO's legal fees in the event of a loss.
Actually, I am on zero income so please find a "no-win no-fees" law firm to take on the class action.
Thanks for offering to step up and lead the way.

what?
I await the day that a poster who says "there should be a class action" actually commences the class action rather than just planting the seeds of an idea expecting others to do all the work.
AND, I think bunman is that person . . . a leader among men so to speak.
If not, then he just becomes another (in a rather short list) of SEPTEMBER posters.

"probably mourning until next year when the big bash can take my mind off footy."
Could an underhand action by Jeremy Cameron be the cause of Eddies heartbreak.............again..............

footy season is over so I will not be drawn into any further comment other than to say "move on, nothing more to say"
