Is this allowed?

Seems odd to say the least.

I reported it - as an intangible

I've reported it as invisible or intangible and fraudulent but as usual their report links are useless,(so I've also

reported it direct via Help & Contact).

It's also the weekend now and things tend to go slower on weekends on this site, tease.gif

I reported it as intangible and I can't remember the other one. I'm surprised it's still there. It would be interesting to know if he's "sold" any yet?

Most market research is paid for, or a lot of it is. You get paid to do surveys, usually. Yes but a survey and a review are different.

There are often prizes offered for 'liking' a business on facebook or writing a review.  I've NEVER seen a prize offered for liking a business on facebook.

I've seen comps to win a prize and to be eligible, you need to like their page and share the comp, tag a friend etc. Which of course if just used to gain more "likes" and facebook coverage. However, in saying that, I did win a prize from HOSE-LINK off their facebook page once, a few years back now.
Being offered to write a review from a facebook page is generated because you have *checked-In* to that particular place/store/event on facebook and because you did that, an automated review link is created.
I once wrote a review about an event, stating the entry fee of $10 was a tad high, although the event was great. This stirred up an abusive response to me, from the event organiser. I calmly replied, 'if you don't like the reviews you receive, then don't ask for them!'

I would always take a review with a pinch of salt. Read carefully, see how genuine it sounds. A Pinch of salt is exactly what I will be giving them now.... Is nothing real anymore???

A review and a survey are different, to be sure. But a few years back, I was on a well known site where you were paid in the form of a $20 voucher for approx every 40 reviews you wrote. You could review anything you wanted to. That site no longer does it but it does have competitions now-whoever writes reviews in certain categories that month will be in the running for a prize.

All I am saying is if you are being paid to do a survey or write a review, there is the possibility you won't actually know a great deal about what you're answering or writing about.

I can recall once doing a (paid) survey about cars. I was going along okay-surveys rarely give the chance to write, they are usually more tick the box or mark a number along a continuum-but as I got into it, they were asking questions where I just got lost as I don't know a lot about different models, so i was ticking best guesses just to get through. I blame the survey-they should have had a 'Don't know' box.

But people need to be aware that some businesses do have competitions & prizes for reviews on google and elsewhere & I doubt you'll win the prize for less than a 5 star review (if it is that business offering the prize, that is).

Re: Is this allowed?

Speaking of reviews, this is perhaps one of the funniest ones I have ever seen.

Warning - It's a little bit norty.

Spoiler
Veet hair removal cream.

After having been told my danglies looked like an elderly rastafarian I decided to take the plunge and buy some of this as previous shaving attempts had only been mildly succesful and I nearly put my back out trying to reach the more difficult bits.

Being a bit of a romantic I thought I would do the deed on the missus's birthday as a bit of a treat.

I ordered it well in advance and working in the North sea I considerd myself a bit above some of the characters writing the previous reviews and wrote them off as soft office types...oh my fellow sufferers how wrong I was.

I waited until the other half was tucked up in bed and after giving some vague hints about a special surprise I went down to the bathroom. Initially all went well and I applied the gel and stood waiting for something to happen.

I didn't have long to wait. At first there was a gentle warmth which in a matter of seconds was replaced by an intense burning and a feeling I can only describe as like being given a barbed wire wedgie by two people intent on hitting the ceiling with my head.

Religion hadn't featured much in my life until that night but I suddenly became willing to convert to any religion to stop the violent burning around the turd tunnel and what seemed like the destruction of the meat and two veg.

Struggling to not bite through my bottom lip I tried to wash the gel of in the sink and only succeeded in blocking the plughole with a mat of hair. Through the haze of tears I struggled out of the bathroom across the hall into the kitchen by this time walking was not really possible and I crawled the final yard to the fridge in the hope of some form of cold relief. I yanked the freezer drawer out and found a tub of ice cream, tore the lid of and positioned it under me.

The relief was fantastic but only temporary as it melted fairly quickly and the fiery stabbing soon returned .Due to the shape of the ice cream tub I hadn't managed to give the starfish any treatment and I groped around in the drawer for something else as I was sure my vision was going to fail fairly soon.

I grabbed a bag of what I later found out was frozen sprouts and tore it open trying to be quiet as I did so.I took a handful of them and tried in vain to clench some between the cheeks of my **bleep**. This was not doing the trick as some of the gel had found it's way up the chutney channel and it felt like the space shuttle was running it's engines behind me. This was probably and hopefully the only time in my life I was going to wish there was a gay snowman in the kitchen which should give you some idea of the depths I was willing to sink to in order to ease the pain.

The only solution my pain crazed mind could come up with was to gently ease one of the sprouts where no veg had gone before. Unfortunately, alerted by the strange grunts coming from the kitchen the other half chose that moment to come and investigate and was greeted by the sight of me, **bleep** in the air, strawberry ice cream dripping from my bell end pushing a sprout up my **bleep** while muttering..." Ooooh that feels good ".

Understandably this was a shock to her and she let out a scream and as I hadn't heard her come in it caused an involutary spasm of shock in myself which resulted in the sprout being ejected at quite some speed in her direction. I can understand that having a sprout farted against your leg at 11 at night in the kitchen probably wasn't the special surprise she was expecting and having to explain to the kids the next day what the strange hollow in the ice cream was didn't improve my status...

So to sum it up Veet removes hair, dignity and self respect...:)

Finally gone,good.gif

Might have been gone earlier if I hadn't put in the report that the report links don't work,(I meant as in nothing

was being done if a listing was reported via the report links).

So when I got a reply from H & C they wanted more info so they could look at what's wrong with the report links,blush-1.gif

No mention of the listing at all,(I put in a link to the item in the first message).

So I had to explain this morning that it was a "tongue in cheek" response to the item still being "live" despite

numerous reports by members via those links,(to me it proves those links don't work on a number of occasions

and IMHO the removal of that brief description box could be a big part of the reason).

IMHO eBay staff don't recognize a number of different reportable items as being "wrong",(so they do nothing),stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

Re: Is this allowed?

I was gasping for air the first time I read that a year or so ago. It's still hilarious. There are a couple of other really funny ones, then the poor attempts at copycatting came out. Others attempts to reach that level of humour failed. I overheard someone at work the other day mention the A site and frozen sprouts and I chirped in "a-ha, the veet hair removal for men!". Yes! They wondered how I knew about it. EVERYONE knows about it, it became a worldwide hit.

Best-review-ever!

My thoughts exactly.

Many of the listings we have reported over the years haven't been removed because I think the staff at first point don't understand the wrong.
