Item not sent, opened case but then received and not as listed. What do I do now??

I purchased an item in early October in Australia and waited over 2 weeks for it without it even being marked as posted so opened an item not received case and requested a refund as I thought this was a bit dodgy.  Lo and behold, I can see by the postmark that it suddenly got posted that day.  Now I've received it but it's not as listed being only cheap 9ct gold instead of the expensive 22ct listed.  What do I do now? If I close the not received case, will it come up with an item not as described as at the moment that option doesn't show?

Did you open the dispute with eBay's MBG or with Paypal? Either way I would ring one or the other and they should be able to change the dispute from INR to INAD for you.

Don't close the dispute because if you do you won't be able to reopen it as far as I know, saying that, if it was an MBG case you can still go to a Paypal dispute which you couldn't in the past.

I like the pendant but it wasn't cheap and I certainly wouldn't have paid what I did if I'd known it was only 9ct

You used the ebay Money Back Guarantee so you will have to ring ebay to change the dispute to Not As Described.

I would have been a bit suspicious of a reproduction item being 22ct gold....it is not at all usual.

HI. Yes I was too which is why I requested a refund when it didn't turn up after more than 2 weeks and no communication from seller. However, I looked up 22ct and its normally used in Arabic countries now, so it was possible there is a bit turning up with new immigrants.
Thanks for your advice - looks like I'll have to ring Ebay tomorrow.

But the Arab countries do not do reproduction items, particularly in that style of pendant.....that is very much an English/European type of pendant.

You can ring ebay on the 1800 Freeall number today...they work on Sydney time even though you will probably be answered from overseas.

Hi diamond lil,

What a gorgeous pendant!

Just had a peep, and it's beautiful, and unusual

Did you at any stage tried to get in touch with the seller and ask about the gold content/purity?

Similar thing happened to me, something was  supposed to be silver, but it turned out to be platinum - heaps more expencive.

When I contacted the seller they said the silver bit must have been left in item specifics by accident, from some previous listing - and the forgot to change it.

So my case is other way round from yours, I just paid them more money (on my insisitence)  and we were both more than happy.

Similar thing may have happened here, so if the seller is aware that is different carats they may offer you a part refund (I think it's worth every cent as is, even with 9 carats, as it's very lovely), as I just can't imagine they would have misled anyone deliberately if there is a 9k stamp on it in plain sight as that would have been a waste of time.

Just get in touch with them see what they say, even ring them and have a chat, worth a try especialy if you like the pendant.

I hope I wasn't looking at the wrong item!

I think you were looking at the wrong item.

I just see 6 photos of the same blurry pendant.  No markings

And she can't get a partial refund, now that a case has been opened.

Imastawka,

yes, I was looking at the blury one - and it looks gorgeous, and as it's blury how do you know there are no stamps?

And how does the OP know for that matter how many carats is the gold content, either it's on it or jeweller told her.

And of course she get anything she wants - we all can, agreement between the buyer & seller, nothing to do with Ebay - they can't dictate to anyone what to do.

OP can just ignore the dispute and it'll eventually close or close it herself if the satisfactory arrangement is reached between them.
