I purposely search for Australia Only, I like to buy Australia and like my purchase quickly. Why is it possible then for the product to be located in Sydney (for example) and then be sent from Hong Kong by an overseas seller.? This seems deceitful to me..
Thoughts and answers welcome.

So, has anyone ever questioned the legal status of this ?
I suspect that the seller might then be bound by Australian Consumer Law,
Australian Tax law
And indeed, with Ebay as the facilitator, they may have a vicarious liability.

If the seller is overseas and the goods are overseas then Australian Law does not come into it.
Just because the seller misrepresents the location of the item does not mean that they are subject to the laws of another country.
All they have done is break an ebay "law".

I'm in the same boat. I mostly search specificly for Items located in Australia. Sometimes i buy from other countries however, when i search for something that is suppose to be located in australia, I clicked that button for a reason and I EXPECT it to be posted from Australia, thats why i clicked on the button.
This is the reason i'm considering not using ebay in the future. And that is the cost of lying, people leave and shop elsewhere.

is it the reason you also dragged up a year old thread to just say that?

Exactly. Members here tell you to search old threads for your answer and then tell you off for posting on them.

I told the seller and ebay this is false and misleading advertising and fraud ebay did not remove the company listing and I expalained it to paypal and money was refunded I also told company via ebay and also the company email listed on my paypal payment. I told company I would report them to Australian consumer affairs and also report ebay for allowing the company false claim to be in Australia. I will not buy from ebay again and if you do first click on company name see how long they have been a member as it also shows true location then review company NEGATIVE feedback which gives a clearer insight.

Umm, what are you on about..!?
Apart from the fact that this thread was growing whiskers when Adam was a boy, JHOS has demonstrated little touch with reality. Nor have they posted much in the last SEVERAL years.
