Queensland Knife Restrictions do not align with state law and are discriminative

The new policy that eBay have imposed meaning any buyer residing in Queensland can not purchase any knife is not aligned with the actual legislation changes.

The only thing that has changed is that you need to be 18 to purchase a knife.

Ebay should just implement age verification and stop this ridiculous heavy handed policy that prevents legitimate users such as myself from purchasing legal items.

Make sure you tell fair trading, that you are only trying to buy scalpal blades.

Replacement Scalpal blades are exempt.

Scalpals are a controlled item.

Would hate to see you look like a goose.

Yes, if you read my original post I said "a box of scalpel blades," which would indicate they are replacement blades for a scalpel handle.

You ?

I tried to purchase a box of scalpels on Ebay,  and I got a message that these were not permitted to be sent to my location in Queensland. I checked the National Retail Association website, and scalpels are listed as exempt, so Ebay has got it wrong. I intend to file a complaint with the Fair Trading ombudsman.

Just to add,

Just because the new law has exemptions, does not mean ebays policy has to have exemptions.  Just like shops are refusing to comply with a stupid law by removing all bladed items, exempt or not.

The compliance requirements are not worth the hassle and it is going to be very interesting when compliace audits commence.

How do you expect ebay to know if a seller is compliant.

The refusal to sell exempt items, is not confined to ebay.   Went to major distributors that I regularly buy from.  Just for the hell of it I ordered 100 stanley utility blades, (don't actually need them) enter postcode for delivery cost, message not available for delivery to your location, followed by address of nearest Outlet for in store purchase or collection.

Seems online compliance is not that simple, or worth the risk.

Because that's what the ombudsman is there for. You can check their website.

I'll let Stormboy04 go first,  they seem to have a pressing need.
