"Furthermore the supervisor advised me NOT to pay for my item until the matter was resolved."

That is an unfair request on eBay's part. What about all those who have made payment (like me) not wanting to keep the seller waiting, are they saying they WON'T be reimbursed?

And clearly, if so many people saw it as an invitation to receive $10 off their purchase, that is what it was. Nowhere on that page did it say 'This is an advertisment'.

Suck it up eBay, you made a mistake.

Firstly, I am not defending eBay as I think the whole voucher affair has been poorly handled.

Just because many saw it as an invitation does not make it the invitation.  On the screen grabs I have seen, the Terms and Conditions clearly state that the offer was limited to selected eBay members that received an email invitation.

The tact that should be taken by those that mistakenly thought it was an offer is that the advertisement was misleading, and that even a reasonable person would have seen it as an offer and not an advertisement.

Just went to use the voucher via the mobile app and it was rejected. After checking back on emails I ended up at the Terms and Conditions page, which now carries this message:

Sorry, the coupon allocation has been exhausted.

If you received an email from us inviting you to participate in this promotion we'll be issuing another coupon to you in the next 10 days as you missed out this time.

Interestingly, the item I "bought", which was BIN, immediate payment required, multiple listing,  isn't showing up in my purchase history. I assumed, as others have mentioned, that as soon as I hit the Buy button I was committed to the purchase. Maybe the mobile app works a little differently.

Not expecting to hear from the seller (as it appears I haven't bought the item) but if I do, I hope they'll be ok with waiting for eBay to issue a fresh voucher (assuming they don't make a right royal stuff up of that one as well).

If Immediate Payment is showing and you have not paid then you have not bought and it will not be in your Purchases.

Hi, i have been sent an email from ebay with the "new" terms and conditions, condition 10 states the purchase has to be $50 or over, i am positive the original condition did not state this fact, as you have saved the original can you confirm this, cheers

Don't have the screen shot of the original terms and conditions, and IMO it is very concerning that any terms and conditions are no longer viewable on ebay.

not sure if this helps, but go to the following thread and click on the jpg link in the Opening Post

http://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Buying-on-eBay/PayPal-10-Voucher-Scam/qaq-p/715729

When the link page loads just click on the image to view it in larger form.

Pertinent points from that jpg:

-  point 4 under the Remember heading: The voucher is non-transferable.  The voucher can only be used by the eBay USER ID to which the invitation is sent

-  point 1 under the Terms and ConditionsThis voucher is open to selected eBay.com.au registered members . . . . .

-  point 3 under the Terms and ConditionsThis voucher is linked to your eBay  UserID.  The transactions must be completed with the eBay UserID in the invitation email in order to redeem the voucher.

This jpg is a screen grab caught by another member when they logged in to eBay.  This is the one that eBay are referring to as an 'Advertisement' and not a voucher offer.  Unfortunately, members who did not receive the email invitation also got to see this 'Advertisement'.  It reads like an offer, but the devil is in the detail of the fine print T&Cs.  The heading across the top A LITTLE SOMETHING TO SAY THANK YOU reads like an invitation!

ALSO, no mention of minimum spend on the jpg link http://community.ebay.com.au/ebay13/attachments/ebay13/q-700000000/12836/1/eBay%20$10%20Voucher.jpg

Hi all, I still have the tab open from Sunday (screenshot attached) after I received the email with the voucher offer, I tried to purchase a $20 item and it failed, but the terms don't mention any minimum, the voucher was already populated in my voucher list when I went to make payment but it said no funds available for that voucher.

All I got from eBay live chat was that they were aware of the problem and I will be emailed an update to the problem in 24-48 hours, which has now passed 😞
