@happyinoz wrote:I hope ebay resolves the technical issue and honours the vouchers for everyone in this predicament. This has the potential to tick some ebayers off, if the vouchers are not honoured, and lose ebay buyers.
What many have interpreted as a voucher was in fact a poor attempt at an advertisment promoting the vouchers to the select few who received the email invitation to make use of a $10 voucher. The code CMOB3 was just a code appearing as part of the advertisement.
I don't believe there is a technical issue with the vouchers, the technical issue is with some eBay employee thinking it would be a good idea to advertise the voucher to all, including those that had not received an email invitation.
While I understand eBayers wanting eBay to honour what they saw was a voucher, I think their best course of action is to pursue eBay through a complaint to the ACCC for deceptive advertising. More complaints = more chance of a finding against eBay.
eBay would defend the claim by saying the terms and conditions clearly state that the offer was limited to those that got the email invitation, but the ACCC may approach it from the perspective of how a "reasonable person" would view the advertisement, and whether it was clear to a reasonable person that the advertisement was an advertisement and not an actual voucher they could use.

The info has been removed from the link and replaced with a message:
Sorry, the coupon allocation has been exhausted. If you received an email from us inviting you to participate in this promotion we'll be issuing another coupon to you in the next 10 days as you missed out this time.

LOLOLOLOL .....
Don't panic or cheer folks ..... over my speechlessness pretty quickly - around 10 seconds flat ....
I just rang ebay and was advised that the tech team are still working on the issue and that if I had made payment ebay will reimburse it, and that if I hadn't made payment that I should pay and ebay would reimburse it.
I indicated that I would not pay until further written advice was provided on this matter.
I also expressed my disappointment as a seller that a technical glitch may be unavoidable but the lack of information on the matter is totally avoidable and that I fear the glitch and the process to manage the glitch will diminish buyer confidence in ebay, ( I know it makes no difference that I said it, but at least I feel better having said it).
Gosh I was so pleased about the promotions, I thought maybe ebay are going to concentrate on getting sales up for us all, rather than focus on making it harder by raising seller standards to a level that hits sellers bottom lines too hard or is directly passed onto buyers.
Roll on happy hour.......

I hope eBay reimburses us the $10 when the issue is solved as I have already paid for my item. It's not the sellers fault and I didn't want to keep them waiting.

The promotional period specified in the terms and conditions for this offer was Sep 25 to Oct 2 (or 3 from memory). Definitely not early September. The only other conditions set out to receive this offer was that you had to purchase using EBay mobile and that the same user id was linked to Paypal.
The voucher code was clearly displayed and the offer was what appeared to be a genuine $10 off (pursuant to above terms and conditions) - there was no mention of receiving an email to be entitled to the offer.
After speaking to a customer service rep online, in fact i had the chat escalated to a supervisor, i was advised that there was a technical issue and the matter is being investigated. Furthermore the supervisor advised me NOT to pay for my item until the matter was resolved. ( I have a copy of transcript with this information).
Ebay has to honour this offer. They can call it whatever they want and blame technical issues until the cows come home but the fact remains that if the buyer followed the terms and conditions they are entitled to receive $10 off their purchase.
If Ebay fails to honour the offer then there is a strong case for a complaint with Consumer Affairs Vic (or the governing Fair Trade agency in your state).
I am still waiting for the supervisor to contact me advising me that the technical glitch has been resolved, however i have not received an update as yet.

I got a 10% off offer for purchases over $50. No mention of a timeframe, no stipulation that it had to be through an app.
So there seem to be many different eBay 'glitches' running.
All of which are referrable to the ACCC.

It is a fiasco indeed.
Very disappointing that the customer services responses continue to vary considerably.
Not good news for buyer confidence.
I have had no "update" either.
Good thing though is that happy hour is well and truly underway ....
