Why is the ebay sponsored Global Shipping Program so expensive? Looking elsewhere now

As  a regular buyer of American products, I am being forced to look elsewhere for them. The ebay shipping program, which unboubtedly is easy for sellers, is prohibitively expensive for lower priced products. A small item is regularly charged at $50. This is more than double what I would charge for the same service, and Australia is The Most Expensive Postal Service in the World.

US sellers, if you want our business, wise up and post the item yourselves.

Global Shipping Programme is a scam in itself.

Hi c_mount , sure is. Some sellers are dropping it now so there's light at the end of the tunnel. Distant it is but it is there!  Smiley Happy

In the case of your 45's, if the same seller has 10 that you want, ask if they can revise one of the listings to include the other 9, otherwise GSP will charge you 10 shipping costs. If they don't want to end the other listings as they will then lose a free listing, they can revise those listings to become a completely new item. It's certainly worth trying. While revising their listing, suggest they put in the weight and package dimensions into the listing. Explain why. That will make the postage cost more reasonable. Still a little dearer than USPS, but not unacceptable, like $US50 for a pair of earrings.

That wouldn't work as often there are collectable items that are sold cheaply. In the case of buying multiple items, asking the seller that alerts them to my interest and they may change the pricing on their items. This happens more often than we realise. Good sguuestion but in the majority of cases as with me looking for an investment, it hinders my chances. Thanks.

Hi hear you worzel*gummidge . That is a rort but please don't give up on ebay just yet. I don't have an issue with ebay as such, just the GSP that has come in to our lives and cause havoc.

Feebay, that's so original. Hilarious. Why didn't you add greedbay in there too? Equally as hilarious. My sides hurt.

funny you should ask that seeing as in 5 days time this thread turns 6 years old . . . unless, of course, you are posting from a mobile . . . in which case you should start your posts with @userID for the poster you are replying to . . . otherwise we might as well presume that you are talking to yourself.

**edited to add** welcome to the boards and do come back now

I was not really aware that this was such a bad delivery option until i used it.  A budget service for a premium cost....avoid at all costs.  Sorry sellers, you might need to open your eyes to the delivery service you are opting for if you want to increase sales.

You'd be better off sending this message to your sellers.

Why would any USA or UK sellers read the Australian boards?

Sellers in Australia don't have the GSP.

I hear you and understand your frustration. Good on you for speaking your mind!  Regardless of who may read this, your feelings are representative of a wide discontent. There is some good news amongst all of this believe it or not.   See below the helpful info by US eBayer,  elmih22!

I've sent a C&P off elmih22's post to various sellers. It has worked. Actually many times I don't have to send it as most sellers are more than happy to to re-list the auction sale with the option to use USPS First Class International etc.. The same for UK sellers with their postage. See, the thing is that many sellers have no idea that their overseas sales are going via GSP.
