n I received the selfie stick, the remote was broken. I contacted the seller who said she would send me another one. Today she has asked me to close the case so she can send the new remote. I am confused as to why i need to do this. Is this legitimate?

No, it is a trick. If you close the case, the seller will not send anything and will just ignore you.
Don't close the case until you have what you want (I would ask for a refund, not a replacement) and are satisfied.

No - not legit.
Don't close anything until the new is received.
Simples.

No, it's not. Do not close the case until you have a refund or a replacement.
You will not be able to reopen it to get a refund when they don't comply.

No
Once you close the case, you cannot open a new case
The seller more than likely has zero intention of sending you anything and a legit seller would not ask
Do you mean you opened an item not as described dispute?
Leave it open and follow through with it

No it is not legit, it's a very common practice by dodgy sellers. If you do close the dispute you can be almost certain you'll get nothing.
You would have been better off demanding a refund and buying another one elsewhere.
Edit. Snap everyone.............😂

There - 3/3 say NO.
Don't ever close a case until you are totally satisfied.

We are like a chorus in unison, so I guess you know the answer now.

Indeed we are Papermoon, but in reality eBay should be making it very clear to members opening disputes that they should not close them until they have complete satisfaction with the outcome.
In effect they are condoning scammers by not doing so..............😎
