eBay lied about refunding me twice!!

How should I deal with? eBay has twice lied about refunding me. I asked them to step in and was told to sort it out with the seller. The seller got my money and the item returned to him and yet I have nothing after 7 months I’m concerning all options. Even A current fair. People should know about how they operate and lie. I have been promised a refund for the postage back to China and a full refund. I have this in all the chats and saved to my computer. I have received nothing back from eBay and all they do is say yes we can help you but then never get back to me. Has anyone been thought or know what my options are as eBay are meant to be 100% money back. I know I can contact the ombudsman but anything else I can do as well. Thank you

eBay lied about refunding me twice!!

You could try the Financial Ombudsman, they deal with PayPal, they have helped me on the odd occasion, you can make a complaint online, they just need relevant details of what happened. Then you "might" get your money back.

eBay lied about refunding me twice!!

This thread has been somewhat useful to me.

I have a similar issue to the OP currently ongoing with Ebay and a seller (seller from Melb).

A few key pointsI have are that the item is over $750 AU of value.

The refund process was started within 30 days of purchase.

The seller agreed to the refund and return.

It was my first time to return something ever on Ebay and when I sent the item back I used Express Post but did not realise it did not include signature...

The item was tracked to the correct address in Melbourne.

Ebay did say that would refund me within 3-5 business days onto my credit card. However, no refund has been given. Now Ebay are renegging on the refund because I have no proof the seller received the item.

The issue is that the seller is not replying to any messages of mine. I have asked them to provide confirmation of receiving the item but hear nothing. Ebay want me to wait for the seller to respond.... this has already been going on for 2 weeks and the seller is not cooperating or responding.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

HI, sorry to hear of this. That's a rotten situation to be in. can you have any luck with a charge-back since you paid via credit card?

That's a lot of money to have tied up!

You can also take a screen-shot of the tracking confirmation and pin it to your message to the seller with ... "OK, I'm sorry, but I have to inform, you that the next step is taking this matter to the police. Please can you reply to me ASAP". . If that doesn't work after a couple more attempts, you can add ... "Be assured that I will be relentless in this matter as it is now appears to be fraudulent".

If the seller has not said to you something like .... "Oh when did it arrive? I never saw anything, perhaps  someone knocked it off" , then you have a good idea they have received the item.

What was the seller's FB like?

I'm just hoping that this is a case of the seller sold an item. They used the koney for bills and are just stalling until they have funds to pay you back.

As far as I know, if an item is tracked and "delivered", this should be enough for you to get a refund. It is the same the other way around, when a buyer claims not to have received an item marked as delivered by AusPost.

If the seller really didn't get the item, a case should be opened with AusPost. What did the tracking say? Delivered or left in a safe place? Maybe the item is somewhere in the seller's front yard...

If eBay closes the case, I think you can still open a case with PP (if you paid with PP) if you purchased the item less than 180 days ago. You cannot as long as the eBay case is open though.

Did you actually go through the eBay resolution centre to open your return case, or did you just follow the sellers advice on the return/refund procedure. At this point there should be no need for you to be communicating with the seller.

eBay lied about refunding me twice!!

I actually did click the return process with Ebay and open a case (been open for more than two weeks now). However, when I sent the item with tracking I did not add the tracking number into the system. I sent a message to the seller through Ebay with the tracking number and a photo of the parcel with tracking.

The seller did not give me any advice, he just said to send it back for a full refund (in a message through Ebay).

Australia Post sent me a confirmation that the driver delivered to the correct address, which are units in the Melb CBD. Maybe the seller is not home??? But what timeframe should I have to wait for the seller to confirm delivery, I imagine less than 1 week is reasonable.
