embargo restriction

Hi,

Does anyone know if Australia currently have embargo on cargoes from pakistan? I ask because I've just recently ordered a large harp from pakistan but just before the date the seller promised to ship the item he msged me saying that his airline notified him that due to embargo restriction that Australian goverment has imposed my harp will be on hold. Just a week ago that same person reassured me that I'd be able to receive the harp by next week now he's changing his words. Did Australia recently impose any new sanctions? When I searched some flights from Australia to pakistan it still seemed airlines were accepting flights from pakistan

Re: embargo restriction

There is a back log within AP because of the high increase in online parcel purchases due to Covid.

Add to that christmas.

Whether the seller may be stringing you along or not, as long as you stay well within the deadlines for opening cases, you should be ok.

Re: embargo restriction

I just received a msg from mikel harps

Not sure whether its right that I should quote the while msg but just for clarity

I think, it is complete misunderstanding. We are not delaying your parcel deliberately. There is no carelessness from our side. We did everything according to the agreed schedule. There is really embargo at Sydney Airport due to the new African Covid-19 version. The Qatar Airways send me an email in this regard. Unfortunately, I have not your email address to send it to you as proof.

Today is weekend holiday. We are still working to find out other ways to deliver your parcel as early as possible. I hope, during next week we will be able to do something in this regard. I will keep you informed with updates. Please be assured, it is our responsibility to deliver you your instrument safely. Please don't be angry in this regard. We expect your cooperation in the special circumstances prevailing around the world.

Best regards
Mustafa

I don't know how to respond to this msg really. What if next week he ask me to wait another week by which time ETD passes. I was expecting to receive it before christmas

Now is maybe the time to ask for a full refund and cancellation since it appears they haven't sent the item yet.

Or you can wait (you have up to 30 days after the final ETA of the item), but you have no chance of getting it before Xmas I'd say. Probably more like the end of January if they do send it..................

Can I actually do that? So can I make payment again after receiving my money back?

Of course I watched that video. I watched it many times before purchasing and reason why I decided to purchase from the company despite is because there was no second hand mikel harp in australia and all other harps of this size was several grand higher in price.

Oh god give me strengthโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ™

You stated that you read all the feedback, watched all the YouTube videos, AND watched the neg review video many times before purchasingโ€ฆโ€ฆ.. BUT YOU STILL PURCHASED FROM THEM!!!!!

Now youโ€™re here asking for advice BUT you wonโ€™t damn listen to any of it!!!!!!!

We get itโ€ฆ.. you want the harp, even if it is poor quality with **bleep**py strings and sticky levers!!!
BUT open your eyes and look at the WHOLE picture!!!!
Wake up!  Itโ€™s not coming!!!!! Something might be coming, eventually, probably drugs and youโ€™re there to collect and get stung for it! Maybe yes, maybe no! But customers donโ€™t usually go to the airport to collect deliveries!

Well, if youโ€™re not willing to listen to good solid advice here, then why are you here?
You question everything being told to you, so you seem to be cautious of us here, yet willing to trust a seller claiming to be in Pakistan? God help us!!

Well, Iโ€™m not sugar coating anythingโ€ฆโ€ฆ. If you lose your money, if you donโ€™t get your harp, if you get busted for importing drugs, or if the seller strings you along with big promises and you keep believing it, THEN DONโ€™T DAMN COME CRYING HERE ASKING WHAT TO DO!

Stupid is as stupid does!
(would you like a source for that quote?!?!?!) ๐Ÿ˜

Re: embargo restriction

I think you're a bit naive in just blindly trusting the seller, but maybe it will work out? A seller will tell you ANYTHING to close the deal. Promising you the bag (at a loss to them of AUD $235) costs them nothing, but what are you going to do if it not actually in the shipment? After all, the bag is not listed as part of the description.

Just double check you don't need a CITES permit if the item contains more than 10kgs of rosewood.

You came to this forum because your gut instinct was throwing up red flags. You really only have a couple of choice. Either wait for the item to be delivered (who knows when?), or ask for a cancellation since they haven't sent it, or open a dispute once the ETA passes. Just so you know, you only get one shot at opening a case on Ebay, so the choice is in your hands. None of us can tell you what to do, but as you have seen, the overwhelming consensus is that you're going to have issues. All of us are happy to be proved wrong though!

โ€ฆIโ€™ll be telling her where to go if it all falls in a heap (which I suspect it will) and she comes back seeking how to get a refund once the time has lapsed because the seller has messaged her with promises of hope and joy ๐Ÿ˜‘

yes, but will the seller allow it?

Another option is to get a refund and then buy again (once sanctions are over & whether the seller will allow)....it's carp times we live in....use your best judgment
