Hello All,  Have noticed lately there are import charges on international purchases. Payable in the currency of the country you are buying from.  This is in addition to the Global shipping program charges.  

Australia does not have import charges for items under 1000$.  Have been having to pay these charges for items under

200$.  Thought it was the GST  under the guise of Import Charges.  But this works out far more than the 10% GST Australia now has on international purchases. 

Vouchers/ coupons are also not available for the length of time stated. Had one that was supposed to be available until the 8th of July.

It disappeared today, the 6th July.

Yes, I did read your post properly. Didn't you read mine properly?

If the parts didn't exist overseas you wouldn't be sending money out of the country, but you are so the govt is getting their share, same as if you'd spent the money here. Not their fault the parts aren't available here. If you weren't spending the money overseas it'd be spent here, or left in the bank for your heirs to spend here.

So..in the end..is it correct to say that these import charges are legal and justified by the seller..i havent bought from ebay in a while to be honest i just saw my invoice and fell over..i swear in this case they didnt display the new charge on the original account tally at the checkout, as someone said earlier..it all sounds dodgy.

The seller has not charged you.

If you have bought through the Global Shipping Program then the import charges would've been shown at the checkout.

Pitney Bowes is the company that collects these charges for the government and charges you for the privilege.

If the item was under $1,000 then 10% GST was also charged.

hi I checked about who import charges in eBay and I found that the money that you pay for import charges. eBay pays you bake the money after 180 days  if your delivery will not Catch in customs (global shipping program )

Most of what you are saying is impossible to understand but I suspect that the rules are very different in Israel.

There is no way on earth that ebay or paypal will make anyone wait 180 days for a refund.

Blame Gerry Havey of Harvey Norman retailers and his Liberal Party mates - they accepted the donations year on year and then closed the door on competition through this heinous charge. I make sure I NEVER give them a single dollar now, even if I can't avoid import charges.
