is this item fake?

hi guys

i just bought an item at a ridiculously low price (200$ with free postage) while fair market price should be somewhere around 600$.

basically it is a ferrari resin model made by bbr and i check the detailed description and make sure everthing is ok, i paid via paypal and the item support paypal money back policy as well. the feedback of this seller is 100% and it seems fine but i am still worried since it is almost impossible to buy such a bargain!! i am quite good at model cars and there is no way they make something copycat to replace the authentic ones, so what should i do? is this fake for obvious reasons or should i wait since the seller just mark it as shipped?

Re: is this item fake?

i sent the scammer new message to ask him either send me tracking number since he already marked this as shipped or cancel the transactions asap. besides, the origial sellers and a lot of us has reported this to ebay so let's see what would happen next.

i did not contact the seller, intead i decided to wait to see what kind of drama he is playing. i mean it does not make sense, if i did not receive the item or the item is not as described then i could definitly get refund through paypal/ebay, so what is the point? how do sellers of this category make profit by doing this?

They do it because some buyers don't know they can get a refund, especially newer buyers. It may only be 1 out of 10 that doesn't know, so that was an easy $200 for the scammer. That is evident by the negative feedback when it starts appearing. Many buyers will say the item was never sent and that they got a refund through PayPal. Others will say that the item was never sent and they lost their money. It's those buyers that the scammers depend on.

A lot of scammers have much bigger listings. They'll list a $400+ item for $19.95 and will have hundreds available. Of course, they sell out within a few days. They do quite well out of those scams. By the time the negative feedback starts appearing, they are long gone. Most will either hijack someone else's account, or they'll create a new account and sell enough cheap legitimate items, that they send, so their feedback and ratings are high enough whereby PayPal no longer hold funds for 21 days.

That means, as soon as the money appears in their account (which it will straight away as they all require immediate payment), they can withdraw it into their bank account. These scammers usually pocket the whole lot of their ill gotten gains because by the time buyers realise they've been scammed, they've withdrawn all the money. Refunds will then come out of PayPal's money. When their feedback hits -4, their account will automatically be shut down. They then create a new account, or hijack another account, and start the cycle again.

And what makes this so offensive is that we see eBay ignore the reports time & time again !!!  They truly have no ethics or morals

Re: is this item fake?

Yeah, they quite happily let scammers continue to rip buyers off, all because they get money from it, yet a seller gets a few defects and it's off with your head.

Don't buy things you admit you knew were fake?
