I bought a dress for my grand-daughter on Oct. 23rd 2012 with delivery time 15 - 25 days. It did not arrive until Jan. 2013 - too late for her formal, and to add insult to injury, too late for Christmas. Seller made all kinds of promises, including refund of $20, but nothing. The dress actually arrived too late for me to be able to leave feedback and since this time, all emails have been unanswered. I now have another item that is up to seven weeks and still has not arrived and am at the stage where I think that something should be done. I am at the stage where I am thinking about not using ebay. I did report this but have not had a reply as yet.
Fed up.

Why did you not open a paypal dispute within the 45 day limit?
You would have received a refund of the amount you paid.
No-one can do anything if you do not report an item as not arriving. You have been using ebay for long enough to know how to protect yourself. If you decide not to use the protection afforded by paypal then maybe ebay is not for you.

i agree if you havent received your item by 2 weeks message the seller and ask about your item and dont let them muck you around, if you dont get a good response open a paypal dispute
you have been on ebay for nearly 9 years and you should know what to do by now

Paypal, thru eBay, offers every buyer FREE 'insurance' that the item will be sent or you get your $$ back. you just need to claim within the specified 65 days (ie.45 days from payment and then escalate to claim within the following 20 days).
the Sellers actually pay for this in their fees, the buyer pays NOTHING.
please, dont complain that you didn't claim on that free service, and now somehow think thats ebay/paypal's fault.

IMO as a buyer and a seller, it is a buyers responsibility to promptly communicate when an item you have purchased (and now own) has not been received, I would never leave this longer than 3 weeks for goods posted domestically, just takes 2 minutes to message a seller to let them know of the issue.
As a seller I always appreciate buyers letting me know that they have not yet received a parcel within a few weeks, on most of these occasions I am able to locate via tracking and it is usually that a courier has not left a card and it is sitting at their local post office (or another post office nearby) waiting for collection.

Hi there,
You are right - I should not have been so trusting. I have been a member for some time, but honestly, I just have not had these problems before and never had to deal with them. Which is not an excuse - this is the first time I have been to this area partly because I have never had the need and secondly because I am not that computer literate. Being a Senior I find a lot of the talk and instructions a real challenge!! If I were a little younger, I would toddle off to computer school (LOL) and learn to be a little more competent.
But thanks anyway.

A lot of us are seniors freespirit but that does not mean that we do not know our rights as ebay buyers and sellers.
I am a senior too and as several posters can tell you, I am not very computer literate either....I can not copy and paste to save my life. But I do know how to take advantage of ebay and paypal protection and open a dispute if it is necessary.

Senior Here Too..... 😉

Probably here too, but I used to work in IT.
Did you buy the dress custom made from China? That can be fraught, especially around delivery times and quality.

Most definitely a senior here too! freespirit I know you must be disappointed that the dress didn't arrive in time for your grand daughter's formal but don't let this put you off eBay
You need to educate yourself so this does not happen again. You have been given excellent advice here. eBay and PayPal will give you buyer protection but you need to follow the steps
I would never wait more than a week or two after payment to receive my item and neither should you
You would do well to read up on the protection that is available to you
