Welcome mapalarkin, they are wonderfully unique and most parents of ASD kids feel the same :-x. Sometimes we all wish for things to be a bit easier for them though. My son was diagnosed at age 7 - he is now 15

glad you found us, i too wouldnt change a thing about my boy, he is 5 and is perfect, he is a challenge, but i do love him so much, its hard to comprehend, its like, i need him.

having said that, he is in vacation care atm, and loving it, cant wait to go each day. im so glad i got it. last holidays was a nightmare, im even not looking forward to the weekend as he will want to go. but i do have a plan up my sleevve, there is one of those fun places, with tunnels and slides n stuff it costs the earth but i could sit there with a book and he will play for hours.

(note to self... get book)..

lisa, pity you missed STRIVE on tueday night, it was one fo the best, must of been 50 ppl there.

ill be glad to get back into routine, school, swimming, normal as life gets for us..hehe.

Hello to everyone :-x

Mizz, I've been really busy lately. Jess got her P's today. Thank goodness, now she can drive herself to work.

I wasn't able to go to Strive last night because I'm still looking around for a baby sitter and my father is still being a "wally". I am very picky when it comes to other people looking after my children. I have always been like this.

It almost seems like no one is good enough unless they have had a criminal history check done on them.

Hopefully I will be able to go to the next meeting. As for the school holiday's, I love them. I'm sick of all the "kerrap" Jess has to put up with, plus we can sleep in and do more things as a family.

How is James going in the decked out shed mizz?

Welcome maplarkin :-x

Hello all

been busy this end, car did a wheel bearing, but before i got it there the alternator died, so have been having fun trying to get organised. work has been a challenge and seriously thinking of ditching one job and going to another company.

anyway

good luck with your DD going to hospital, OCD is horrid. That is one of B's things. we went to a forum on it one night and boy did I learn a lot.

Distance education is a wonderful system, and those who home school with it will find the teachers at Distance are a wonderful help.
B left school at 15, the principal said she was no good in the school system and told me distance was not an option. They offered no support or help.

anyway I looked around, found distance and she enrolled, past her VCE with excellent marks.

I apologise I am not saying names of ppl who have these things happening, but am sooo tired, and am too lazy to scroll back.

I have work late tomorrow so am going to sleep in well that is if B doesn't wake me too early.

Hey news, B was given a car - we have had it roadied - it didn't cost much, is in quite good nick - so got to get the h4ealth forms filled in by her psych and then the lessons can start

and i am scared sh**less

taught my son no worries, we had a grand time on his Ls.

so any tips would appreciate.

Welcome Maplarkin :-x

Where are you from? I live in Melbourne's west have an 11 yr old son with Asperger's.

You are lucky to get aide time here in Vic. My boy get s no funding at all ๐Ÿ˜ž He needs it though.

OMG you people with kids driving terrify me. It's bad enough my boy made it to 11 and is already well into puberty:| Yhe thought of him driving is enough to scare the daylights out of me.

Hello maplarkin and kiwi

I never used to swear until I started taking Jess for lesson's :^O

I ended up having to send her with an instructor for the first six months and then I gradually started taking her. But jess kept going with the instructor for the full 12 month's including today.

It cost a small fortune and was worth every penny.

Re: **AUTISM / ASPERGERS SUPPORT GROUP**

F will be old enough for his Ls in 6 weeks, he has informed me he will not be learning to drive - in his experience it means you become the family taxi driver (ie me) and he is not intending to take over my role ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I am like you kiwi - the thought of him behind the wheel is scary - he would be driving along and then the next minute be off with the fairies......

Miz, school holidays have gotten to be a real issue here, at nearly 16 ds is well aware of how they throw his routine out and how long it takes him to get back into it when he goes back to school - short breaks like this one are the worst for him. I would rather he didn't have the breaks for his sake but boy I love not having to battle every day to get him up and to school! I look forward to them, except for the drama when he goes back and struggles readjusting.

cheers
