I didn't even know they are available. What am I looking for, or do I have to ask for it?

I will try almost anything to help this kid.

The only thing we found that helps with the stomach issues was a gluten free diet. It is immediately apparent if there is anything inadvertantly eaten that contains gluten. I shudder every time I recall the amount of weet bix that was fed, on the advice that it was a fibre issue.

Pro Biotics...

We got the inner health plus Dairy Free ones... 30 capsules of $25

Yep Az.. that gluten intolerance is huge factor for some kids... a lady I work with had her daughter home for a few days after an innocent "mistake" was made when she was fed a food that is usually ok but it was a different brand...  The daughter knows the drill and thought they were the same as the ones she usually ate...

Cat its good that he likes school and if that's the case the teachers need to support him in order for him to access the curriculum successfully.  I hope you've had some feedback from the teachers by now and that they are putting some practical solutions in place to help support your son.

The Pro-bioitcs are expensive but have made a huge different.  We tried gluten-free as well, and for 2 weeks it was like a magic cure - then back to bad.  The paed. we go to now said it's because there is an initial change in gut flora and fauna with the change to gluten free - so initially you see the change, then it reverts back to normal.  At least it did with my daughter.

My 6 yo GD is gluten free totally, no gut problems since  starting it unless she has inadvertently eaten something containing gluten. At 6, she is well aware of what can happen so she is quite diligent in asking before eating.

It took about a month/6 weeks before it was evident.
