It helped my younger (NT) boy out of a depressive stage, but I know meds can sometimes do weird things.
Or could it be that getting some sleep is enabling her to relax and let the stress show?
Either way, talk to someone medical about it - not the stupid GP who thinks it's all your parenting though!

Does anyone know if Melatonin drops could cause depression to get worse. DD has been on them a week now and tonight she was close to psychotic. She has issues but that is not her at all.

Kiwi I'm sorry I forgot to say thanks. I've just popped back because I found the following article, sums up my girls issues and is quite enlightening. Wondered if it might be helpful to someone else?

It seems my DD has great difficulty in regulating her emotions ๐ I'm going to call the Peady first thing and get another referral to a psych who has experience with ASD.

Hi Bella, my son was on melatonin tablets and his anxiety was 100 times worse than normal. We perservered for 2 weeks and that was probably his worse time ever. He also had vivid nightmares on the melatonin. Took him off after 2 weeks. It took him almost a month to get back to "normal" - whatever that is!!!!
