It helped my younger (NT) boy out of a depressive stage, but I know meds can sometimes do weird things.

Or could it be that getting some sleep is enabling her to relax and let the stress show?

Either way, talk to someone medical about it - not the stupid GP who thinks it's all your parenting though!

Sadly dipstick doctor is the clinic within coo-ee of here. DD has never in all her life been like this its not her. She was having some mild side effects on the tablet which is why she was switched to drops.

I'll see if I can get hold of Peady tomorrow. But I am inclined to lay off it for the time being to see if it does make a difference. Shes not relaxed at all btw anxiety is worse everything has gotten to breaking point in the last day or so.

The first night or two were ok. Currently trying to find a decent pysc who won't take a month to get into.

Kiwi I'm sorry I forgot to say thanks. I've just popped back because I found the following article, sums up my girls issues and is quite enlightening. Wondered if it might be helpful to someone else?

It seems my DD has great difficulty in regulating her emotions ๐Ÿ˜ž I'm going to call the Peady first thing and get another referral to a psych who has experience with ASD.

Does anyone know if Melatonin drops could cause depression to get worse. DD has been on them a week now and tonight she was close to psychotic. She has issues but that is not her at all.

Hi Bella, my son was on melatonin tablets and his anxiety was 100 times worse than normal. We perservered for 2 weeks and that was probably his worse time ever. He also had vivid nightmares on the melatonin. Took him off after 2 weeks. It took him almost a month to get back to "normal" - whatever that is!!!!

I'm the one who need to thank you for that article, it's very, very interesting. I think I need to take C to the psychologist again - but he sees it as a bad thing ๐Ÿ˜ž

Check this link out. it has some good info.. dose and time taken can cause problems.

Emotional dis-regulation is something I suffer from and I assume my son also has it.

I take Gabbapentin and it is a godsend for this problem. it is not on the PBS if taken for this reason but I am on a hospital trial so I get it at PBS price.

I will post more later about how they think it works but I am off to see my psych shortly.. I will also ask what he think is a good treatment for it emotional dis-regulation.

Oh Karen big big big HUGS. I know its so heartbreaking and I really feel for you. I know with DD its like there are two different people at times, this wonderful delightful young lady, yet on the other hand a moody, angry, very sad overwhelmed individual ๐Ÿ˜ž

It can't be an easy time for you and you family right now. Hang in there your precious GD is very blessed to have you in her life supporting her all the way.

Well guys the last few days for me have been a roller coaster of emotions. I phoned the Psychologist directly and got in today.

The outcome is quite interesting, DD kept saying School is fine but then said I don't want to go. when asked why I don't want to go - you guessed it I don't know. Same with every subject I don't know. She was clearly distressed but quite adamant she wasn't talking about it.

After an hour of talking to her it continually went round in circles. The psyc came to the conclusion that she is simply overwhelmed and can't easily express her emotions. Her behavior about appearance, hating herself etc is quite common at this age as they compare themselves to others. In DD's case is amplified to the point her reality is distorted.

Basically she felt we were doing all the right things and that in DD's current state she could not work with her as there is no willingness too. If that changes in the future then we can always go back but basically we just need to keep an eye on her and use some of the techniques we used on her when she was young - distraction etc.

She was very helpful considering DD's inability to co - operate but I am convinced we will get through this together.

Thank you buying, I asked her this morning and she says she does not feel worse. But I'll definitely lower the dose and see how she goes for another week. If the behavior worsens I will get her off it, atm psych said to continue.

good luck Bella, psych said same to me...just continue but it broke my heart so took him off it. Just see how you go, maybe a lower dose will just be the right thing for her, I didn't actually try that myself. I will share a thing that works for my son...a phenergan tablet about 1 hour before bedtime does the trick without fail.

I had same trouble with my boy last year, he was so so anxious and distressed but could not put a finger on why. He was also completely overwhelmed as there was a lot happening at school. So lucky school offered to send a tutor over for 3 hours a day and we did that for a month and he settled down quite a bit. Sometimes they just need a break and retreat back into their own environment without the pressures of school.
