but atm i am researching funding for equipment etc for ASDs in schools in nsw for my tafe course if anyone can help me out?

ive found lots of different software and practical tools for kids with ASDs but now i need to find any funding sources that a school could apply to, to pay for the items...anyone? please only tell me about nsw schools tho coz i cant use any other states funding

i found this in my search tho that might be useful to any of u here that are in nsw: http://www.dadhc.nsw.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/D64E494C-F310-48E7-BFAC-CDA7470BA1B5/4082/FamilyAssistanceFundFactSheetEnglish.pdf

o and p.s. i hate phone calls too LOL

when the phone rings i dont answer it unless its a number i know and want to talk to LOL

OH gets so frustrated by this coz he is ruled by the telephone (meaning he drops everything no matter how important to answer the phone if it rings)

and if i need to *bites nails* actually make a call to someone i dont know....i agonise over it for ages first

*cries*

Moning All

Was given a report on my 2/12 yr old from daycare. It says that he does not like to play with lots of kids is happy on his own or just 1 or 2 kids.Gives away his toys willingly and doesnt like loud noises or other kids coming too close to him when he is playing.Starting to sound so familiar. Then this morn he woke with a bleeding nose just like his brother used too. Both my boys have had numerous ear infections and now it looks like little Nicholas is going to suffer from nose bleeds too.Ive been noticing that he throws things down a lot and swings his arms around in frustration and head butts walls etc etc.DArcy never did that.Makes me think I have too very special little men.

It does sound like a familiar story mapalarkin, however some of these "symptoms" could possibly be delayed development at this stage and some could quite possibly be "learnt behaviour" from watching the big brother - ie "ooohhhh look what he does - that looks soooo cool" or "check him out - he does that and gets some extra attention". it is also my understanding that kids of that age are content in their own company - with an older brother he is probably used to giving away his toys "willingly" - he might just not like confrontation. If you are used to other kids taking your toys - I wouldn't want them too close either. Throwing things down could just be temper tantrums - remember these little guys are just discovering this big scary world but they don't have the vocabulary to express their feelings and thoughts.

board hogging again, but back to mapalarkin - not sure about the swinging arms thing - does big brother do it - is it a learnt behaviour? Could just be his way of dealing with stuff - some kids bite, some punch, some cry - the head butting however is a real issue - could cause him some damage?????

The ear infections and nose bleeds could be a genetic thing - not a symptom - maybe your kids have thin nose skin - my daughter suffered from many bleeding noses and a visit to the doctor ended with the suggestion to put gloves on her hands - fixed it in no time - (couldn't pick her nose any more)

Even if these are symptoms - no doubt you already have plenty of routines and procedures in place for the older boy - so just apply them to #2 for now - because it will be difficult to get any accurate diagnosis whilst he is so young - (unless of course it is something that can be picked up by blood tests etc.) If they are symptoms - all you can do is wait and see for now - and you have every right to feel sad and scared in the meantime - so remember to treat yourself too.

Thanks Kylie

We have an appointment for a doctor for Nicholas in September. He is a clinical pyshcologist and because of the others with ASD in family and Nicholas being 9 week premi he is being tested then.I think a lot of it is frustration on his part.Being a ferral red head and 2 is not good lol.And his brother not letting him play with the PS2 doesnt help.Hopefully as he grows older he wont bang his head and carry on and mum wont bang her head anymore lol
