Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Yep Flashie I use it all the time to check I still have a straight line... so often I have got

"3rd counsin to the 41st uncle of your 22nd Grandmother" and then I KNOW I have made a mistake :^O

That was what happened today, although, as it turned out the people were right but some glitch sent them all into a spin.

The brother & sister had a child and maybe it was 'not spoken of' but they made sure she married well. After that there is no more on record about her parents, so I suppose they married and went their separate ways.

Tende how wonderful to hear from an aunt you haven't spoken to for years, it must have been wonderful that she had more to add for you.

I had an aunt like that I had not spoken to for years and years and a couple of cousins too. Sadly one of the cousins and the aunt finally died and I am now hoping the family will find papers that will help in my search.

I very carefully and with great tact asked if I might be allowed to look at any records if they come across any... Bless them, they said yes ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello Flashie, I wish that were true, wouldn't we all be so engrossed.

Maybe just hang in and wait to see if others would like to join us.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have my fingers crossed I get some time for research this weekend.

I got a lot of stock in these last few weeks so checking and storing and listing has taken precedence over searching unfortunately but here's hoping :).

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I bought a mag at the newsagent's today called, "Photo Editing for Family Historians". It's presented by "Your Family History" magazine which I buy occasionally and goes through the stages of restoration from cleaning and dating to 'repairing' old photos using Photoshop and Elements. (I have this). Oh, and it has a tutorial disk too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully I can put it to good use as it cost $25.00 but will be worth it if I can do something with some old pics.
