Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I think I've found evidence of a family fued.

3 names on one side of the family VERSUS 3 names from the other

otherwise what could that mean?

Well it sort of depends on how the names are dispersed Gil... can you give us a clearer idea?

Love the thought of a family feud tho :^O

Oh come on gill we all like to hear of a good family feud. My Dad changed his surname as he was worried us kids would get picked on at school but he changed it to his mothers maiden name (thinking he would keep it in the family) . It created huge arguments as she then felt it portrayed her as a single parent, they didnt speak for years. Whoops

Matega, you are so right. We all love a good family feud! Or a couple of skeletons in the closet.

Happyroo I love it, doesnt matter if there is out of wedlock pregnancies, jumping ship, convicts, married four times or anything it all paints a picture and I cant get enough of it. Yep bring on the skeletons 🙂

So on that note how about if anyone is comfy with it (and you dont have to name names) tell us a skeleton or interesting fact that you have found in your searches.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Okay matega... a lot of my rellies are Scots and some of them well known.

Here's one story I found about them, and bear in mind I am related to all three families....

Note: (Research):Sir Robert Fleming (1252) cut the head off the slain Sir John " the Red" COMYN and offered it to BRUCE with the suggestion “Let the deid shaw” (Let the deed show). These words became the motto of the Flemings. Read more »

Gill when you lose a family go up to "Tree pages" next to the name of your tree at the top and scroll down to "Tree Overview". Click on that.

When the window opens go to the right and click on 'People' then you can enter the name you are searching and find them again.

Whatever you do, don't do what I did and think by going into the next window "People with hints" and cleaning them up will help... you have no idea the mess I got into :^O

Darkie yep thats a skeleton. Have you seen the whisky, the cufflinks, the university motto and various other things that have now come from the saying? You could start a collection of "Let the deed show" memorabillia.
