Matilda....the burial information comes from family search.
I entered George Underhill Deaths Warwickshire and one came up for 1863.....so I clicked on the batch number......and that shows how many there were for that particular batch........and then I just clicked through them until I got the Underhill.
INt he batch numbers they surnames are listed alphabetically...........it helps sometimes grouping families together.
That was why I was disappointed that his birth is not showing on family search as it might have shown us any sibling christenings.

I've been busy this past week watching episodes of You Do You Think You Are that I'd recorded and saved to watch. I much prefer the English ones to the US, although Gwyneth Paltrow was interesting. They make me want to get on with my own investigations.
Last Thursday we went to OH's uncle's funeral (his mother's brother) and I met up with a cousin of his whose brother has their family tree sorted. I'm hoping to catch up with him before too long and get OH's family sorted at least on his mother's side. I've also made contact with a cousin on Dad's mother's side who has a lot of info and plan to swap what we have in January.

I watch that show when I can too Chappies.
I have been looking for a connection between the Underhills and the Bustins and no luck so far.
I have found that Edward Bustin appears to be the son of John and Mary Bustin.
But I have only been able to find one sister Sarah who died aged 2 months in 1816.
Maybe the connection (if there is one) is through Mary Hitchcox........and I haven't found anything for her yet.

I watch that show too! I also really like the one of Steve Buscemi. My favourite oz one was Ita Butrose and also John Buttler.
Thank you for that Flashie, I am having a look through family search now, I have never really used it before.
I spoke to my husbands Pa last night, he was more interest in telling me about his mothers side of the family but he did say that George Underhill became an orphan in infancy (he said that was family rumour and wasn't 100% sure)
I was having a little look at his mothers side last night and it looks like from the 1700's to the 1800's Hamiltons all married Hamiltons, would it more then likely be family marring family back that early? I can't find any find any links that prove this yet,

Flashie, is the George Underhill you found that died in 1863 George Shirley Underhill?
on โ30-12-2011 03:24 PM
There were 2 George Underhills who died in 1863.
George Underhill died 28-2-1863 in Leamington Warwickshire......(family search).....he is the one I was wondering if there was a connection.
George Shirley Underhill died in 10-11-1863 in Hapton in Arden Warwickshire...... (family search)....he was born about 1790...( ancestry)
There does not seem to be any probate enteries for either George Underhill.

Thank you Flashie, I could only see the Shirley one.
Considering my George was born in Leamington in 1863 I really do think this George was probably his father consider we know that he was an orphan. Shall keep searching for that clue to cement it. :-x

I can't say for sure...........I have been wondering myself if there is a connection.
If he is your Georges father then he must have died before your George was born..........or soon after.
So I have been looking for a death of a Mary Underhill before the 1871 census.
I might even look to see if there is a death of a Mary Skinner......because we have not found a marriage for George Underhill and Mary Skinner yet..............but if they were not married I doubt his birth would be registered under Underhill.
Of course all of this is presuming he is English...........the family obviously moved around........he was brought up in Northamptonshire after being born in Warwickshire.
Ha....the spell check is obviously American....it doesn't recognise English counties.:^O

Just incase .....I checked Scotlandspeople to see if Geroge Underhill married there..................nothing for him showed.
If George Underhill married Mary Skinner I am wondering if they have been mistranscribed.
George Underhill jr was sure they were his parents....he named them on his marriage certificate and they were named on his death registration.
