flashie, I was struggling a bit with the rostrons so I put it aside for a few days. I agree with you that kaya should get the marriage certificate. That would answer lots of questions and save time.
I have a lot more information about Alexander Stewart that I can send you if you are interested. I think we were correct in thinking that the service record doesnt match.
I have managed to find his first wifes surname (daughters birth) but no marriage yet.

I'll send it tomorrow afternoon, just about to head off to bed and have to go out early in the morning. There's quite a lot of stuff, i want to put it in some kind of order before I send it to you.

Kaya....did you register first .....before trying to purchase the cerificate.
Someone else had troube purchasing their certificate too.....and it was because their password didn't match the requirments of the site.
I hope this page might help.

Flashie, if you still have the emails you and I sent each other (even in your sent items) you will probably find enough info to jog your memory.
I will send all the files tomorrow, completely disregard the service record. He was in the 74th regiment, not the 75th.
I found Marthas birth record, she was born in Ireland 1831, mothers mane Martha Armstrong. Cant find a marriage yet though. Its entirely possible they were married in US or Canada, the 74th regiment were stationed there for a while.

I am still here searching.:O.............I don;t think we should be too concerned about the Lancashire and Yorkshire thing.
I was just tracing the parents that Kaya feels are Elsie LUmbs parents.....and on each census they changes where they were born.
So I am guessing there was a bit of a cross over of registration districts.
So for now I am going to research William Thomas and Alice Ann Lumb.

I have registered now thanks for your info.
Filled in all the info and couldn't send it as I don't know the exact day of the marriage for Elsie and James.
All I know is that it was March 1911 but without the precise day I can not apply for the marriage certificate ๐
Think I may have to write a handwritten letter if it won't let me proceed *online*
This might not be an easy project.
