Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

What a hard life they had flashie ! Their love for living near the mountain shines through.  Are they rellies ?

Clair, sad to read of the three babies deaths, so many children died back then.

Have you visited a cemetery called Falwkner ? The rellie who owned the Fruitery is buried there, they had moved to Sargood Street Coburg by then. It's a bit addictive this stuff isn't it lol

I will research my mothers side some time, well, her mother anyway, her father was adopted.

How far back have you got ?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Yeah I went to Fawkner yesterday. I know nothing of Fawkner and when I lived down in Melbourne in all my years I never travelled around those parts. But it was a nice cemetery, big and green. We went late in the day so there was not a lot of time to go looking around so I didn't see much. The grave I was looking for was right up the front.

The worst cemetery I've been to is Coburg, went again yesterday also, and my 2nd grt grandfather is buried there 😞

I have a few in there actually

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I like looking around cemeteries.  I was born at the Coburg hosital Clair, though we lived in Belgrave....my mother must have been staying with her parents in Glenmorgan Strre to be near a hospital maybe.  Her father worked at the brewery.

Still looking for convicts ? haha

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Clair I have no idea if the  brewery is still there, not sure what suburb it was located but I remember he walked up the road to get the tram.   They moved to Miami when retired and both are dead now.  I lived with them in Brunswick for a short time and I may have the hospital wrong..not sure if its in Brunswick or Coburg, left vic when I was nine........a long, very long time ago lol

Really interesting for you flashie that you have access to so much info.  Must have been exciting to come across the site etc.

Did you go to any cemeteries today clair ?  Who were the three babies?

had to edit....I posted castlemaine brewery but I think that's a qld beer so maybe it was VB ?
