There are now 100 000 burials and cremations at Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
I could not find any current pictures taken from the same angle.

There are a few schools in Hobart that were built over old Cemeteries.
One has a few headstones in an outer wall.
That school a few years ago got funding to build new clasrooms/hall..............and when they were digging the foundation for the new building they dug up a skull.
It was in the paper..............I do not think they tried to find out who the poor devil was.............I thik they jsut put him back in the ground.

This website came up in my facebook this morning, a database of female Irish orphans that came to Australia between 1848 & 1850.

Punch, today is the day of the Famine Memorial service on the site of the Hyde Park Barracks. They have been having it annually since the memorial was erected a few years ago. I must try and get there next year even though I (don't think) I have any rellies who came through there.

I think I may have a couple of famine orphans, but the names are so common they're almost impossible to trace accurately.
Lol, I must be getting the ancestry bug again, I've gone from the orphan site to the workhouse site to the London archives, I'm sure I've seen them all before but I havent done much ancestry for a while so its like finding them all for the first time 🙂
