Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

I am trying to find a mid priced negative and slide scanner, the cheap ones do a terrible job of scanning. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Met some long lost rellies on my FIL's side today. They were all lovely and very excited to discover they had a cousin/2nd cousin that they never knew about.

I have found some between $300-$500. I am just trying to work out if it is more cost effective to buy a scanner or get a company to scan them.

For that price happyroo, I would pay a company to scan them, it would be cheaper, and you may not ever use a scanner enough to warrant the cost.

I found a company that does them for 60 cents per slide, and 60cents per image on negatives. I now just need to work out how many slides and negatives we have to see if its cost effective
